After years of uncertainty, the final Fast & Furious movie at last has a spot on the release calendar. Universal Pictures announced this afternoon that Fast & Furious 11, which has tentatively been titled Fast Forever, will be released exclusively in theaters on March 17, 2028. Collider can also confirm that Louis Leterrier is still attached to direct the film, which is due to begin production in Los Angeles soon. Considering the rising scale and ambition of the Fast & Furious movies, it wouldn’t be surprising if the shoot for Fast Forever takes most of the year, with 2027 being spent solely on post-production.

Practically nothing is known about the plot for Fast Forever at this time. Late last year, Vin Diesel took to his personal Instagram to share a series of stories from the film’s pre-production, including meetings with Universal executives, ensuring that everyone was on the same page. This came after reports that Universal was considering canceling the film altogether if the budget was not brought down by at least $100 million. It’s far too early to know what the budget will be for Fast 11, but considering Fast X cost nearly $350 million, it could very well be one of the most expensive movies ever made.

While specifics about Fast Forever are still being ironed out, there are a few expected cast members to get excited about. Franchise titans Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson are expected to reprise their respective roles as Deckard Shaw and Luke Hobbs, respectively, which will come nearly 10 years after they previously teamed up for the spin-off film, Hobbs & Shaw. Both Statham and Johnson returned in small roles in 2023’s Fast X, which teased a bigger return in the final installment.

Are the ‘Fast & Furious’ Movies on Streaming?

Some of the Fast & Furious movies, including Fast X, F9: The Fast Saga, and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw, are on a streaming hiatus right now. However, the films are available for rent or purchase on VOD platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV. The 2017 Fast & Furious movie, The Fate of the Furious, is currently streaming on HBO Max, but it’s unknown how long audiences have to watch the film before it leaves streaming. After this news, it likely won’t be long before the Fast & Furious films gain a new streaming home.
