Final Fantasy XIV players are getting access to a load of free items, but their availability is limited, and interested parties should move fast to ensure they claim them. It isn’t too uncommon for players to get free items in the critically acclaimed MMORPG. You can get mounts, gear, and more, on top of the extended free trial for FFXIV, which can offer you well over 200 hours of gameplay, depending on how you tackle the content from the base game and its first two DLCs.

Now, players are getting more freebies. According to a post made on the official FFXIV website, the annual Valentione’s Day event has already started, and players can already start participating to claim a few free items. Inspired by real-life Valentine’s Day, this special event in the MMORPG is limited, and its rewards must be claimed before the end of the period.

The Event Features Several Free Items

As seen in the official announcement, Valentione’s Day 2026 started on February 2 and will last until February 16. To start the event, you’ll need to make your way to Gridania’s Old Gridania sector and find Astrid, located at X: 10.2, Y: 9.4. To activate the Valentione’s Day quest FFXIV, you’ll need to be at least level 15 and have completed the Main Scenario Quest called It’s Probably Pirates.

If you meet the requirements, you can start The Icing on the Cake quest. By completing the quest, you’ll be rewarded with different sets of armor, depending on your character’s gender, as well as several furniture pieces, which can be used in the housing system in Final Fantasy XIV. The semi-casual outfits look nice, with a beret and a cardigan at the forefront.

Meanwhile, the furniture pieces are all inspired by Valentione’s Day, and one of them is a huge cake. In addition to the aforementioned rewards, you can also obtain three different Orchestrian Rolls, as informed by the official website. There is also a note that items that were made available during previous versions of the event can be obtained from the House Valentione maid in Old Gridania.

As was mentioned, you have until February 16 to complete the quest and obtain the free items listed by Square Enix. The official announcement highlights that the seasonal quest cannot be completed after the event has come to an end, meaning you should plan to complete it in time. Luckily, The Icing on the Cake can be completed rather quickly.

The next big expansion for FFXIV may not arrive until 2027, so events like these should keep players occupied in the meantime, offering new content to play through and rewards to claim. Surely, they don’t match the content of a full expansion, but it may be a reason to bring you back to Final Fantasy XIV for a while.
