Fans of Poison Ivy are in luck, as the next few months will debut multiple new looks for the iconic Batman villain. However, the one just revealed may well be the best of them.
Poison Ivy Unveils Stylish Suit As Gotham's Mayor
In solicit information for Batman #8 - from Matt Fraction and Ryan Sook - DC has revealed a gorgeous new look for Poison Ivy. Jorge Jiménez's main cover and David Aja's covers for the issue reveal Ivy in a green pinstripe suit, with a huge red corsage, a leafy crown/hair-tie and floral high-heels.
The new suit is a mark of Poison Ivy's new position as Gotham mayor - a twist seemingly coming in March's Poison Ivy #42. With Vandal Savage working as Gotham's police commissioner, it makes sense that Ivy is forced to partner with him, even though she doesn't look happy about it in Jiménez's art (above.)
Thankfully, it's been a while since Poison Ivy was an outright villain, so it's likely she's at least partly sincere about serving Gotham. Her new look can also be seen in Marcio Takara's variant cover for Poison Ivy #43, which offers a glimpse of 'things to come.'
Meanwhile, Absolute Batman Transforms Poison Ivy in a Different Way
While Poison Ivy is getting a redesign as Gotham's mayor, she's getting a radically different look in Absolute Batman. Poison Ivy is set to appear in Absolute Batman #17 (from Scott Snyder and Eric Canete) in a new, regal version of her classic design. However, fans suspect this is only the beginning.
So far, every major Gotham villain has undergone a major transformation from their initial appearance. While Ivy has a variation on her classic design now, the cover for Absolute Batman #18 includes a gigantic, redacted figure who is likely to be Ivy's final form.
With Mister Freeze, Bane, Killer Croc and Joker all becoming unbelievable monsters in the Absolute Universe, it's incredibly unlikely that Poison Ivy will remain so recognizable, and fans can expect some kind of plant kaiju to emerge before her debut is over.
The next few months will be huge for Poison Ivy fans, as she adopts two very different designs in her latest clashes with Batman.
Absolute Batman #17 is coming February, 2026, from DC Comics while Batman #8 is coming April 1.
