Ethan Hawke's nepo son Levon, 24, lands first leading movie role opposite an Oscar-winning actor

Ethan Hawke's nepo son Levon has landed his first leading movie role alongside Oscar-winning actor Anthony Hopkins. 

The 24-year-old star, who is the son of Hawke and Uma Thurman, has been cast in the forthcoming indie drama Twenty-Seven which is both written and directed by Gregory Caruso, per Variety. 

Levon is slated to portray a 27-year-old aspiring screenwriter who attempts to balance relationships and his OCD battle while trying to find success in the film industry. 

Hopkins has been cast as his character's 80-year-old mentor and close pal who is battling Parkinson's. 

Production for the movie is currently underway in Los Angeles, but a set release date has yet to be announced. 

Caruso, who is known for directing projects such as Flock Of Four (2017), opened up about Levon and Hopkins taking on major roles in the film. 

'I wrote this character hoping someone like Anthony Hopkins would play him. I never imagined it would actually be Anthony Hopkins,' the filmmaker said, per Variety. 

Caruso added that Hopkins 'brings a mastery to the role I still can't fully describe, and Levon meets him in every scene with real vulnerability and intelligence.

'At its heart, Twenty-Seven is about the uncertainty of growing up, feeling stuck between where you are and where you want to be, and the people who help you find your way.' 

Daily Mail has reached out to reps of Levon for comment, but has yet to hear back.

Levon has been following in his parents' entertainment footsteps, and made his professional screen debut in the 2023 miniseries The Crowded Room. 

That same year, he made an appearance in his father's biographical drama film Wildcat. Levon's older sister, Maya Hawke, also took on a major role in the project.

Maya has additionally pursued her passion for acting and is known for starring in Stranger Things as well as Maestro (2023).   

Levon made his film debut in the 2024 movie Blink Twice which was directed by Zoe Kravitz and also starred Channing Tatum. 

The actor took to Instagram at the time to celebrate the milestone and wrote, 'This my first movie! 

'Truly had some of the most amazing and moving times of my life with this incredible group of people. Here are some of the times.' 

Also in 2024, Levon starred in the Western thriller The Thicket alongside Peter Dinklage and Juliette Lewis. 

While attending the premiere of the project, he shared the advice his famous father gave him during a chat with Jason Delgado on the red carpet. 

'He always has a pretty serious mantra, which is: Breathe and make contact,' the star explained. 

Levon added that if he was ever nervous when it came to a scene, Hawke would tell him, 'If you're breathing and you're looking at your scene partner, it can really only go so wrong.' 

The son of Hawke and Thurman appeared on the big screen once again in Marty Supreme (2025). 

The Oscar-nominated movie had also starred Timothee Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow and Odessa A'zion. 

Most recently, Levon took on a role in the 2026 film Girls Like Girls. 

In 2024, he additionally made his theater directorial debut after he wrote and directed Picture Day. The production played at Coffey Street Studios in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

Levon also graduated from Brown University with a degree in philosophy. 

The star has dabbled in the modeling industry and worked with brands such as Prada, Celine and Loewe. 

Both he and his older sister Maya have notably collaborated on music together as well.   

'She's my best friend in the world,' Levon said of Maya during a past interview with Us Weekly. 'We spend 90 percent of every day on the phone with each other.' 

With both of his two eldest children also working in the entertainment industry, Hawke has opened up about the topic of nepotism. 

'We all, throughout the history of mankind, we often swim in similar streams as our family,' the Before Sunrise actor told Entertainment Tonight, and was joined by daughter Maya.

'Your generation gets a lot of flack about this expression that somehow seems derogatory, this nepo child, and I want to align myself as a nepo father.' 

Hawke is also father to daughters Clementine, 18, and Indiana, 15, whom he shares with wife Ryan.
