Gaming hardware really has come on leaps and bounds in recent years, with console players finally able to keep up with those on PC for the most part. As well as first-party releases, both Xbox and PlayStation have plenty of partners who bring out additional products for their consoles, and it's a much healthier ecosystem with quality products all over the place.

That said, no piece of hardware is arguably as important as the controller, which provides our only method of getting the characters in games to do what we want. Particularly if you're a fan of fast-paced shooters and other genres that require high precision, a good controller really can be the difference between life and virtual death.

With all of that in mind, a new release is about to hit the market that really could be the very best example of a controller anywhere, though be warned that it comes with a price tag to match those lofty ambitions.

As first reported by GameRant, official PlayStation partner Razer has revealed its most premium PS5 controller to date, the new Raiju V3 Pro. Made from magnesium alloy and with plenty of bells and whistles to keep things interesting, the controller is priced at a very hefty $349.99, though you do get a lot of mileage for that outlay.

In sharing the news of the release with potential players, Razer shared the following insight:

"Razer’s most ambitious officially licensed PlayStation® 5 controller to date, uniting premium materials, a one-of-a-kind design, and high-level performance in a single collector’s piece — debuting in a limited, individually serialized drop of 1,337 units. Razer, the leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, today announced the Razer Raiju V3 Pro Signature Edition, its flagship controller officially licensed for the PlayStation® 5 console, built for players who want the highest level of performance and craftsmanship that has defined Razer engineering.

"Introduced in 2016, the Raiju controller line has been refined over the past decade evolving into Razer’s most advanced PlayStation® controller ever. The Razer Raiju V3 Pro Signature Edition distills that decade of experience into a single form, balancing design, weight, and performance for players on the PlayStation® 5 console who refuse to compromise. Limited to an initial release of 1,337 individually serialized units, each Raiju V3 Pro Signature Edition is produced through a demanding, precision-driven process – from its magnesium alloy exoskeleton to its finely detailed anodized aluminum accessory tool."

So what's under the hood? In fairness to the price, you do get a lot of features and build quality guarantees that you simply wouldn't get with cheaper options. Those include:

  • Magnesium alloy exoskeleton
  • Laser-etched glass touchpad
  • Anti-drift, adjustable TMR thumbsticks
  • Six mappable buttons
  • 2,000 Hz polling rate
  • Micro-textured TPU grip
  • Removable mouse-click buttons

The magnesium exoskeleton and glass touchpad are new additions to this latest version of the controller, and they should go one step further in elevating it above previous iterations.

The Razer Raiju V3 Pro will be available to purchase from November 10, though with the limited numbers available, you will want to move quickly if you do want to get one for yourself.
