Ryan O'Rourke is a Senior News Writer at Collider with a specific interest in all things adult animation, video game adaptations, and the work of Mike Flanagan. He is also an experienced baseball writer with over six years of articles between multiple outlets, most notably FanSided's CubbiesCrib. Whether it's taking in a baseball game, a new season of Futurama or Castlevania: Nocturne, or playing the latest From Software title, he is always finding ways to show his fandom. When it comes to gaming and anything that takes inspiration from it, he is deeply opinionated on what's going on. Outside of entertainment, he's a graduate of Eureka College with a Bachelor's in Communication where he honed his craft as a writer. Between The IV Leader at Illinois Valley Community College and The Pegasus at Eureka, he spent the majority of his college career publishing articles on everything from politics to campus happenings and, of course, entertainment for the student body. Those principles he learned covering the 2020 election, Palestine, and so much more are brought here to Collider, where he has gleefully written on everything from the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes to Nathan Lane baby-birding sewer boys.

The Kings of CBS are about to retake their throne. Tomorrow, October 8, marks the premiere of Robert and Michelle King's new series, Cupertino, a new legal thriller reuniting them with Evil star Mike Colter and looking to keep the Good Wife duo's streak of success alive at the Eye network. It'll follow the efforts of two attorneys cheated by Silicon Valley who open a firm to help those taken advantage of by America's seemingly untouchable tech giants fight back, putting themselves in the crosshairs in the process. Before they take on their first case, though, everyone's favorite pink-clad investigator will be back to solve another murder, and she has a Tony winner in her sights.
After experiencing a complicated whirlwind romance with a mayoral candidate and tangling with all manner of guest stars, from Stephen Colbert to Patti LuPone, in Season 3, Elsbeth is right back at it in Season 4, with her trademark positive outlook and fabulous outfits. The first episode, "Crazy in Love," finds her entering the messy world of marriage counseling for her next case, taking her directly to the renowned Serena Collyer, played by The Pussycat Dolls lead singer and Sunset Boulevard Broadway star, Nicole Scherzinger. Initially seeming cool and collected, the counselor may have a more murderous side as Carrie Preston's sleuth digs into her and uncovers a tangled passion underneath her facade. Before learning more, however, she can't help but be a bit star-struck.
Collider can exclusively share a new sneak peek at the premiere showing Elsbeth entering Serena's "sanctuary" for the first time, accompanied by Detective Bobby Smullen (Danny Mastrogiorgio). Immediately, the counselor sees how very different the two are as the monotone investigator attempts to introduce them while Elsbeth hops over pillows to come shake her hand. Ms. Tascioni's line of work naturally brings her into contact with famed New York residents she admires, but she's particularly wowed by Serena thanks to her radio show and is so enamored that she can't help but trip over the pillows lined up on the floor. Serena is preparing for a relationship workshop, but before she can get that, the duo question her about one of her clients who is at the center of their current case. Although it curiously takes her a second, she tells them that she can't vouch for his so-called "transformation," describing him as a hotheaded ticking time bomb married to a "sexually compulsive woman with a fear of commitment." She may know more about the man than she lets on, though.
Wedding Bells Will Be Ringing in 'Elsbeth' Season 4
A new case of the week isn't all Elsbeth has planned for the Season 4 premiere. Wedding bells are ringing this season after her son, Teddy (Ben Levi Ross), proposed to his beau, Roy (Hayward Leach), in the Season 3 finale, and Elsbeth is busy helping plan the ceremony when she's not on the clock. "Crazy in Love" will see him officially set the date for his big day. The episode also welcomes back another precinct family member, as Gloria Reuben returns in the role of Captain Wagner's (Wendell Pierce) wife, Claudia. What her presence has in store remains to be seen, but she adds to an episode revolving around all things love, relationships, and, of course, murder.
Elsbeth Season 4 premieres tomorrow, October 8 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Check out our exclusive sneak peek in the player above.
