With extensive experience playing video games, he covers all forms of gaming content at Screen Rant, from breaking news to the latest fan theories. Most-played games range from Clair Obscur to Civ to Elden Ring to Halo 2 and beyond.

Elden Ring fans were disappointed to learn that FromSoftware ended up cutting a ton of unique content throughout the game to improve the experience overall. Developers clearly didn't want to include any half-baked quests or ideas that would lessen the experience in any way.

However, one unique quest line that was cut from the original game and that players were never supposed to see has actually been restored entirely thanks to a fan-created mod, and it's available to check out right now (via Nexus Mods).

Elden Ring Essential Cut Content Restored Thanks To Fan Mod

If you're looking for a brand-new Elden Ring quest to check out after completing the game for the umpteenth time, modder TransQuility has you covered with the "Merchant Kale Questline Restored" mod, available to check out now on Nexus Mods. The famously cut questline is among one of the most requested pieces of cut content from the game, and this mod finally gives players a way to experience it—with a few caveats, of course.

Merchant Kale is one of the first NPCs that players come across in the Lands Between, and is a recurring staple of the experience as players journey through each region. This mod takes some liberties to provide players with a lore-accurate depiction of what Kale's quest may have looked like if it were included in the base game.

Kale's quest introduces his journey in "discovering his roots and the Frenzied Flame," and is based on a famous fan-created video from Sekiro Dubi on YouTube that is the closest depiction of Kale's story currently available.

Merchant Kale's Quest Is Now Fully Playable

Because there's no way to know exactly how this quest line would have turned out had it been kept in the game, the restored version of the quest takes some creative liberties and isn't exactly a FromSoftware-sanctioned project. As such, the quest can be slightly complicated, which is par for the course when it comes to Elden Ring quests.

To activate the quest and complete it in its entirety, the mod requires players "to buy from Kalé, talk to him and exhaust his dialogue, obtain certain items, and defeat Shardbearers," with some more detailed steps included that are best left to the player's discretion to avoid spoilers on how things turn out for Kale in the end.

Ultimately, while it's not an official restoration of the questline by FromSoftware, this is the closest players are ever going to get to the original Merchant Kale questline. It's one of several incredible mods by modder TransQuility, who has also developed several gameplay mods that make beloved boss's movesets available to the player, such as Promised Consort Radahn and Hoarah Loux.

If you're interested in experiencing the Merchant Kale cut content for yourself, add this essential download to your list of Elden Ring mods to check out soon.
