The world of Elden Ring is rich with lore with stories interwoven throughout the events we partake in and the characters we meet along the way. In a land full of secrets, unique NPCs, and mysteries to unfold, it is no surprise that fans wrapped up their time with the hit FromSoftware title wanting to learn more.
That is why Elden Ring: Distant Tales aims to present fans with side stories for some of the game's most iconic characters found throughout the Lands Between.
Elden Ring Is Officially Back
It may have been four years since the launch of Elden Ring, with the FromSoftware title going on to be considered one of the best video games of all time. Created by Hidetaka Miyazaki with worldbuilding from A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin, the game was destined for greatness from the start, and now it is back after a short hiatus.
In an announcement by Yen Press, Elden Ring: Distant Tales is an upcoming manga series based on the world of Elden Ring. Set to launch on 16 July 2026 as the first entry in the brand-new collection, it will feature side-story adventures centered around some iconic characters such as Rya, Blackguard Big Boggart, and even Blaidd the Half-Wolf.
These are the tales of the other inhabitants of the Lands Between.
What if Roderika were to befriend the rest of the Roundtable Hold…? What if the Blackguard went in search of a new delicacy other than prawns…? What if one were to catch a glimpse of Rya's youth…?
All of these answers and more will be answered in Elden Ring: Distant Tales and luckily, we do not have long to wait to find out.
The New Adventure Will Release This Year
With art from Haruichi, Elden Ring: Distant Tales will launch this summer and will make for the perfect gift for yourself or the Elden Ring lovers in your life. These are stories that may never be expanded upon in the virtual world and if you are anything like me, then you will be eager to learn more about the characters who help shape your journey throughout the game, as leaving them behind is never easy. That is especially true if they die in typical FromSoftware fashion.
Expected to be the first volume of many, Elden Ring: Distant Tales will feature stunning art and narrative excellence and will make for the perfect way to fill in that gap between Elden Ring and the next FromSoftware release. Bloodborne 2, maybe?
