After the most recent trailer for Dune: Part Three, fans of the franchise are as hyped as they've ever been for the epic finale to launch later this year. Part Three will officially see Paul Atreides take on the role of a "villain" of sorts, as Denis Villeneuve's adaptation of Dune: Messiah brings Frank Herbert's iconic novel to the big screen.
However, Dune: Part Three isn't the only thing spice-heads have to look forward to from the Dune universe in the coming months, as there are several exciting new releases on the gaming front as well. For starters, Dune: Awakening is officially slated for a console launch on PlayStation 5 this September, introducing a highly requested single-player mode that promises to overhaul the experience completely.
Further, in addition to the incredible new Dune: Bloodlines expansion for the beloved Dune: Imperium, fans will want to mark their calendars for Dune: Conspiracy, which is slated to drop this fall (via BGG).
Dune is officially getting yet another release later this year with Dune: Imperium - Conspiracy, which will serve as a "cross-compatible expansion" for Dune: Imperium and Dune: Imperium - Uprising, the extremely popular tabletop game from Dire Wolf. The expansion will introduce a compelling new mechanic with Conspiracy Cards, which serve as long-term strategies to overtake the Maud'Dib with cunning and intrigue.
Conspiracy will also introduce a brand-new "Overthrow Mode" that allows one player to take the throne as Emperor while the rest of the players team up to take them down in a 3v1-style gameplay mode. Conspiracy is compatible with both Dune: Imperium and the standalone sequel, Dune: Imperium - Uprising, making it a must-play expansion for fans of either (or both) games.
The expansion was officially revealed on YouTube during a The Dice Tower live play video a few weeks back, and while additional details haven't been revealed just yet, it's slated for a Fall 2026 release and will be getting previewed at this year's Gen Con at the end of the month.
Whether you're a long-time Dune fan who's read all of Herbert's work or a newcomer to the franchise thanks to Villeneuve's epic films, Dune: Imperium is a must-play board game that appeals to more than just Dune enthusiasts, winning dozens of awards over the years since its release and garnering a massive following. It's a perfect way to gear up for Dune: Part Three's release on December 18, and you'll be able to grab the Conspiracy expansion this fall to make the experience even more interesting.
