Lee D’Amato is a writer born, raised, and based in Queens, New York. With collective thousands of hours in games like Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Elden Ring, and The Legend of Zelda, he's now writes game features, guides, and reviews for Screen Rant, but has covered a wide range of topics, including ancient history, affordable travel, and overall health.

During the Alltrades Abbey scenario in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, you'll take on a new twist on a familiar kind of RPG dungeon puzzle. It's the classic move-the-mirrors-to-direct-the-beam-of-light challenge, and you'll need to complete it to free Jacqueline, complete the Pit of Silence, and unlock the ability to change vocations.

To complete the puzzle, you need to arrange a number of mirrors to point two lasers at two crackling crystal balls. There are a couple of unique wrinkles: immovable mirrors right in front of the targets, and, in the second half of the puzzle, a need to direct the beams back towards the first set of mirrors. If you're stumped by this obstacle in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, here's how to solve it quickly.

How To Solve The First Mirror Puzzle

Easy Peasy

The first half of the Pit of Silence mirror puzzle can be solved relatively easily. You'll simply want to use the mirrors available to you on the left side of the floor, arranging them as seen in the screenshot above to direct the beam into the crystal ball on the left. This will cause the crystal to explode, solving the first half of the puzzle and freeing you up to move onto the second.

How To Solve The Second Mirror Puzzle

A Little More Complicated

When you start on the second half of the mirror puzzle, if you take the time to consult one of your companions, they'll helpfully point out that there aren't enough mirrors on the right side of the room to direct the second laser beam into the crystal ball. There's also a giant wall separating the two halves of the puzzle, but it has two large gaps in it.

So the goal here is to use the mirrors on both sides of the puzzle, reflecting the light through the gaps in the wall to access the mirrors on the left. Place the mirrors according to the screenshots above, directing the beam to the left through the hole near the bottom of the screen, then up and back over to the right through the hole near the top.

If you ever feel you've messed this puzzle up beyond the point of no return, simply press the start/options/+ button, or your preferred platform's equivalent, to reset the entire room. If you've already completed the first half, don't worry; resetting the room will simply move all the mirrors back to their original positions, and won't roll back your progress on the puzzle.

Although there are no immediate rewards for completing this puzzle, it's absolutely necessary to move forward in the story and unlock the vocation system. This opens up a whole new world of gameplay possibilities in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, so it's no surprise the feature is locked behind one of the most difficult puzzles in the game.
