Dragon Age: The Veilguard - Can You Romance Morrigan?

1 week ago 7

Since her first introduction in Dragon Age: Origins, players have very much fallen in love with the sorceress Morrigan, and now she makes a return in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. As a shape-shifting Witch of the Wilds, her story is one of the most gripping of the many companions in the franchise. With her strong personality and striking backstory, there's so much to adore about this character and her continued development.

Appearing in Origins, Inquisition and now the engaging Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Morrigan's continued presence has been a frequent talking point for fans. As her story continues to develop throughout the games, many yearn to romance her to get that little bit closer. While first romanceable in the original Dragon Age: Origins experience, Morrigan's reappearance in Inquisition did not allow players the opportunity, and now with her showing up in The Veilguard, many are hoping for the opportunity once again.

You Can't Romance Morrigan In The Veilguard

Morrigan's Appearance Is More Of A Cameo

Despite returning, Morrigan is unfortunately not a romanceable character in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, similar to how she was in Inquisition. As she offers more of a cameo appearance than being one of the game's many possible companions, players unfortunately won't be able to romance her in this title. She does, however, appear early on in The Veilguard, giving players an early boost as they unexpectedly make her acquaintance within the game's first few hours.

Whether you're new to Dragon Age or an Origins veteran, there are a few important things you'll need to know before starting The Veilguard.

Recognized by Harding and making the player's acquaintance for the first time, Morrigan can still be interacted with as she offers her support and help against Solas. Her appearance has even been changed for a new look in The Veilguard, a controversial choice but one that certainly sets her apart from the others in the game. That's far from her only presence in the story though, reappearing and making a big impact with certain dialogue and narrative moments throughout the game.

Will Morrigan Ever Be A Romance Option In Dragon Age: The Veilguard?

BioWare Has No Plans For DLC

Morrigan stares into the distance in Dragon Age.

With no plans to release DLC for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, particularly because of the efforts being poured into Mass Effect 5, it's clear the story of the game is pretty nicely wrapped up by Veilguard's ending. Despite that, though, some players might still hope that Morrigan could become romanceable in a future patch or update. While it might be pretty widely desired, there are some big hold-ups regarding that possibility.

As Morrigan's character plays a huge role in the game's climax, it seems unlikely that BioWare could ever make her character romanceable. Particularly with one big secret reveal, she's found herself as much more of an integral plot point than anything else. While slightly disappointing for fans of Morrigan, Dragon Age: The Veilguard makes up for it with a lot of other incredible romance options.
