26 years ago, Diablo cemented its reputation with gamers with one of the greatest video games of all time. The world welcomed Diablo II to shelves at the turn of the millennium, returning to the world of Sanctuary as a demonic army threatens the world yet again. Now, after almost 30 years of waiting, Diablo II is eyeing an ambitious remake. A brand-new look at the project is now live, and the Unreal Engine project already has Diablo fans buzzing.

This Diablo 2 Fan Remake Is Game-Changing

As you can see above, the video teasers for Diablo II's remake are epic. The fan-made project is a clear love letter to the franchise, and it gives the Diablo sequel a long overdue upgrade. Nearly 30 years have passed since Diablo II went live, and video game graphics have come a long way (LONG) way since then. Seeing the world of Diablo II through the lens of Unreal Engine 5 is a definite treat, but sadly, this fan-made remake may never make its way to others.

After all, the new teasers for this remake remove all mention of the Diablo II project being made public. Rather than a full remake, creator I Make Games refers to this remake as simple concept art. Through the power of Unreal Engine, the new videos give fans a taste of what a Diablo II remake could look like in modern day. But even if this fan-made project stays private, there is no doubt a Diablo II comeback would be a game-changer for fans.

What's Next For Diablo?

After all, just the remaster of Diablo II left fans in a tizzy when it dropped in 2021. The Blizzard Entertainment title hit shelves to celebrate the game's 20th anniversary, giving the original release a major graphics overhaul. Completed with convenience upgrades and Dolby Surround sound, Diablo II: Resurrected was met with solid praise by fans, and it just released its very first expansion. In early 2026, Diablo II: Resurrected: Reign of the Warlock went live, and the DLC brings a brand-new hero class to the remaster and more.

Beyond the upcoming DLC release, Diablo is keeping busy with its fourth mainline entry. Three years after the release of Diablo IV, Blizzard will bring its Lord of Hatred DLC to gamers in April 2026. The expansion will bring the Paladin class to Diablo IV as well as the Warlock class as gamers embark on a new quest to stop the Lord of Hatred, Mephisto, when he rears his ugly head.
