Creature Commandos takes place after the events of Peacemaker season 1. The series follows Amanda Waller after she is banned from recruiting human inmates for dangerous missions. As a result, she forms Task Force M, a black-ops unit made up of imprisoned monsters and other creatures. Under the command of Rick Flag Sr., the team is sent on supernatural operations around the world to protect the planet.
The series' showrunner, Dean Lorey, continues to keep fans in the loop as development and production for DC Studios' Creature Commandos season 2 move forward. The acclaimed animated show is set to return to HBO Max in 2027. And, in an Instagram post on July 4, 2026, Lorey shared a major behind-the-scenes update.
He revealed in a video that he had been watching an animatic for Creature Commandos season 2, episode 6. The showrunner praised what he had seen so far and stated that he was excited for fans to see the final cut. He also complimented the show's artists and directors, saying that they're doing an incredible job bringing the upcoming installment to life.
