2026 marks a brand-new era for DC’s Flash, and with this new beginning comes a new superpower that will make the Scarlet Speedster even more overpowered than he already is. Here’s everything we know about the new power so far.
If you were unaware, DC recently kicked off the second act of its ALL IN initiative, called DC NEXT LEVEL. This new era has brought a slew of new titles, as well as new story arcs for DC’s ongoing series. Among the titles kicking off a new arc this March is Ryan North and Gavin Guidry’s The Flash.
The upcoming March 25 release of The Flash #31 will kick off Wally West’s next era, and thanks to DC’s solicitations for issues #32 and #33, we now have confirmation that Wally will debut a new speedster power: precognition, insight into an event before it happens.
The Flash's New Power, Explained
Main Cover by Gavin Guidry for The Flash #32 (2026)
The synopsis for The Flash #32, which releases April 22, is where we get our first teaser of Wally’s new precognition:
Okay, so maybe Flash's world has gone crazy, and maybe he's having to run around the city several times a minute just to save people from themselves, but at least things can't get worse, right? I don't know why people still use that rhetorical construction. Every time you say, “At least things can't get worse,” you're just setting things up to get way worse, Wally! In this issue: escalating stakes! Flashes of insight! And a strange and unexpected team-up that brings Flash and Captain Cold together...with the fate of Central City hanging in the balance! Told you things could get worse. Sheesh, Wally. Come on.
It is particularly the “Flashes of insight!” that alludes to this new ability. This suggests that Wally will begin experiencing flashes of events before they happen. Paired with his character-defining super-speed, this will make him more powerful and proactive than ever when it comes to mitigating danger, as he won’t just be reacting to threats as they occur, but anticipating them before they happen.
The Flash’s New Precognition Power Raises Some MAJOR Questions
Main Cover by Gavin Guidry for The Flash #33 (2026)
We get further confirmation of Wally’s new power in the synopsis for The Flash #33, which teases, “Wally's mysterious Flashes of Insight escalate!” This suggests the ability is here to stay beyond a single issue and is even growing stronger. What that ultimately means, however, remains to be seen (pun absolutely intended).
DC officially unveils Reverse-Flash’s radical new look, and fans are already divided over the bold redesign shaking up The Flash’s legacy.
In the meantime, fans will likely have several major questions, such as: What exactly are the capabilities and limitations of Wally’s precognition? How did this power develop in the first place? And perhaps most intriguingly, will this ability manifest as a blessing for Wally or a curse?
Fiction lovers know that precognition is often a double-edged sword. While it can provide valuable insight, it can also drive the person afflicted mad, as it is exceptionally difficult for the human brain (even a superpowered one) to be constantly bombarded with glimpses of the future. Hence, this new Flash power is very much up in the air regarding whether it is a positive or negative development.
Someone has hidden a nuke in Central City, and the Flash has minutes to find it before it goes off! Just one problem: Wally's already checked everywhere. In fact, he's actually been checking everywhere over and over for days due to the "putting yourself in danger" trend that's been making his life a huge pain! But if the Flash can't find the bomb alone, at least he's got the help of his brilliant wife Linda, along with the aid of... Captain Cold? That can't be right — can it? The clock is ticking. Plus: Wally's mysterious Flashes of Insight escalate!
The Flash #32 from DC Comics is available on April 22, 2026!
