A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH! MATT MURDOCK, once a noted attorney, now goes by a new title: college professor! But when the mysterious, future-seeing villain OMEN targets Matt himself, it's DAREDEVIL who'll be taught a brutal lesson: When your enemy already knows what's coming, every choice is a matter of life and death! |

It's been a while since Matt Murdock was a lawyer in his ongoing comics. During 2022's Daredevil Volume 7, Daredevil accidentally killed a burglar with a mistimed punch. Since then, he's been to prison, led a ninja cult and begun a new life as a priest.
Fans had expected that Volume 9 - teased as a significant reset for the character - would find him back practicing law with his old friend Franklin 'Foggy' Nelson. However, it seems the Devil of Hell's Kitchen will instead embark on a whole new career - with a new villain to match.
Our Take on Daredevil Lore Change
Daredevil's new era will pit him against the precognitive villain Omen - a new addition to Marvel lore. Little is known about Omen so far, except that the villain is explicitly targeting Matt Murdock, rather than DD. It's likely that Marvel will leverage Matt's students, putting a promising group of kids in the crosshairs of various villains.
A lot of Marvel heroes have done stints as teachers - Spider-Man, Captain America, and pretty much every single X-Man - but few stick with the career long term. However, it's entirely possible that after sixty years as a lawyer, Daredevil will now forevermore be a teacher in Marvel lore, with all the new challenges to his secret identity this fresh status quo can offer.
Daredevil #2 is coming April 29 from Marvel Comics.
