Dancing with the Stars kicked off their season 35 premiere with a two-night event on Tuesday.

The first night - which was plunged into chaos when voting for the live show went down just minutes into the broadcast - saw only the male celebrity contestants perform on the dance floor, with the ladies set to follow on Wednesday.

For their first dance, the contestants were told to pick a number one song from the year they were born, before getting their scores from judges Derek Hough, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba.

Tyler Cameron, Ezra Frech, Taylor Hanson, Conner Leavitt, Jackson Olson, Guillermo Rodriguez, Harry Shum Jr. and Connor Wood all showed off their best moves as they competed for the Len Goodman Mirrorball trophy.

Though it was only the first night, one contestant ended up getting eliminated at the end of the show.

Leavitt, the husband of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Whitney Leavitt, and his dance partner Adele Zaikman were booted off after performing a 'chaotic' salsa.

Inaba called the performance 'a bit chaotic' but noted that she loved his 'enthusiasm.'

Hough said, 'I love it. It was goofy, playful, it was a whole lot of fun. I got the shimmy, I got the shake, I just didn't really get the salsa, and when you did the salsa, the hips weren't really going.'

Tonioli said the dance was 'very colorful.'

Leavitt ended up getting a score of 12 out of 30, before getting sent home.

After his elimination, he said doing the show has been 'the most fun' before praising his dance partner.
