Despite being six years old later this year, Cyberpunk 2077 is still getting updates. While not all of them have been content-related, CD Projekt Red is still buttoning everything up following its rocky launch and has more than smoothed over the game's legacy.

That legacy continues, however. According to this X post from the official Cyberpunk 2077 account, yet another update is on the way, and it has gamers pretty riled up.

Cyberpunk 2077 Keeps On Giving

It's Not Fully Done Yet

According to CD Projekt Red, a PS5 Pro update for Cyberpunk 2077 is on the way. Here's everything we know so far: "Get ready to go PS5 Pro, chooms — a free Cyberpunk 2077 technological update for the PS5 version of the game is coming in the not-too-distant future! Stay tuned for more deets in the coming weeks!"

In a follow-up tweet, the official account notes that "for transparency," the update will "not be introducing new in-game content. It will release only for the PS5 version of the game and is solely focused on allowing it to take advantage of the expanded hardware capabilities offered by the PS5 Pro system." It's a good distinction to make, as fans would have wondered if the PS5 Pro was getting anything exclusive.

Speaking of fans, though, hundreds of folks celebrated the news unanimously. One is excited to play it yet again because of the patch: "Already played 300+ hours on Steam, 90+ hours on Nintendo Switch 2, and now more 90+ on PS5 Pro after this announcement, also buying it for the third time." Another acknowledges that people have been waiting for this: "Finally, we’ve been asking for this for almost a year."

In terms of legacy, one fan agrees that the team has made good on the aforementioned spotty launch: "CDPR went from one of the most hated studios to one of the most respected just by refusing to abandon a game. Cyberpunk's redemption arc is genuinely one of the best in gaming history."

Many fans noted that, back in 2024, the team said they "currently had no plans" to provide a PS5 Pro patch, highlighting the decisive phrasing. Eventually, the team decided it was worth prioritizing a PS5 Pro edition, and they seem poised to release it imminently.

Cyberpunk 2077 Is About To Get A Big Boost

What Will The Sequel Look Like?

For reference, the PS5 Pro launched on November 7, 2024, priced at $699.99. Now, you'll find it at $749.99 due to a price hike in August 2025. Not everyone has a PS5 Pro that can benefit from this upcoming patch, but those who do will see an improvement soon enough.

At this point, it's been many years since launch, and a lot of fans are just waiting for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. If they take their time and incorporate all the lessons learned from the original, it should be a pretty big launch.
