Academy Awards host Conan O’Brien ended Sunday’s ceremony from Los Angeles paying tribute to his good friend and Hollywood favorite Martin Short.

O’Brien, 62, ended Sunday's ceremony from the Dolby Theatre by saying, 'It’s been an honor and a joy - we love you, Marty Short - good night.'

The tribute came less than a month after the tragic suicide of Short’s daughter Katherine Hartley Short at 42 on February 23.

The family tragedy - one of many the beloved entertainer has endured in recent decades - caused Short to postpone his upcoming comedy tour with longtime collaborator Steve Martin.

The tour, titled The Best of Steve Martin & Martin Short, is postponed, Variety reported, noting that Martin's website shows dates slated for April.

A representative for Short, best known for comedies such as Father of the Bride, Three Amigos! and Only Murders in the Building, confirmed the tragic passing in a statement last month.

O’Brien ended Sunday's ceremony saying, 'We love you Martin Short!' less than a month after the tragic suicide of Short’s daughter Katherine Hartley Short at the age of 42

'It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,' Short’s representative said in a statement.

The statement continued: 'The Short family is devastated by this loss, and asks for privacy at this time.

'Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.'

Katherine, who had worked with a mental health nonprofit called Bring Change To Mind, died via a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities with the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed last month.

Short's tragic loss came on the heels of the death of his friend Catherine O'Hara in January.

Officials with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed O'Hara's cause of death at 71 on January 30 as the result of a pulmonary embolism, with rectal cancer listed as an underlying cause.

Sunday's hosting stint was the second year in a row the veteran late night host has taken on the duties.

O'Brien took things to a somber tone at the show in juxtaposing the annual cinematic event to what's going on in world politics.

O'Brien took things to a somber tone Monday in juxtaposing the annual cinematic event to what's going on in world politics

'Tonight is an international event - if I can be serious for just a moment, everyone watching right now around the world is all too aware that these are very chaotic, frightening times,' O'Brien said.

He continued, 'It's at moments like these that I believe the Oscars are particularly resonant - 31 countries across six continents are represented this evening.

'And every film we salute is the product of thousands of people speaking different languages, working hard to make something of beauty.'

O'Brien said on Sunday that organizers strove to 'pay tribute ... not just to film but to the ideals of global artistry, collaboration, patience, resilience, and that rarest of qualities today, optimism.'
