Casey Battle shares heartbreaking post after losing unborn baby with AFL star husband

AFL WAG Casey Battle has opened up about the heartbreak of losing her unborn child with her Hawthorn star husband Josh Battle. 

The influencer shared a social media update saying they had been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support they had received.

Alongside a photo of some of the flowers they had received from the community, Casey wrote some heartfelt words.

'I don't think I will ever be able to put into words how grateful we are for all the love and support we've received over the last few days,' Casey began.

'Every message, food drop, call, flowers and kind gesture has meant so much to our family.

'We feel so incredibly loved and supported. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.' 

She finished by saying her two older children, Billie and Bobbi, had been 'her light' during this challenging time. 

Casey announced the sad news on Instagram on Sunday night, sharing photographs of her pregnancy alongside images and footage of the family's tribute.

The couple gathered with their daughters to release balloons carrying messages for the baby.

One was marked 'Baby Battle' with a love heart, while another message read: 'I love you Belle.'

'A tiny life, a love that will last forever,' Casey wrote.

'There are some moments that change you forever. A little life that left the biggest imprint on our hearts. Until we meet again, our beautiful baby.'

The post prompted messages of support from Battle's Hawthorn teammates and members of the wider AFL community. 

The announcement came a day after Josh, 28, spoke to reporters following Hawthorn training at the Kennedy Community Centre.

The defender discussed Hawthorn's bid to make their first grand final appearance since 2015 after the club fell one match short against Geelong last season.
