Jennifer is a TV and Movie News Editor at ScreenRant. She started her journey in entertainment media in 2022 when she first joined Valnet at CBR before coming to ScreenRant.
Jennifer loves TV, especially science fiction. She also loves late-night talk shows, due to her insomnia. Alien: Earth is definitely one of her favorite shows, and she jumps on any chance she gets to write about it. Even on her days off, she will claim an Alien Earth article if one is available.
Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon are two of her favorite late-night hosts, and Conan O'Brien before he left his show.
Her Alien: Earth coverage for ScreenRant is by far the work that she is most proud of so far.
She was initially a finance and political editor, but her passion for pop culture convinced her to transition into entertainment journalism.
During her off time, she loves to binge-watch cooking shows such as Kitchen Nightmares. Jennifer also loves spending time with her daughter and cherishes every moment of it.
After delays and fan uncertainty, NBC has finally decided the fate of the medical drama, Brilliant Minds.
Brilliant Minds follows the story of Dr. Oliver Wolf (Zachary Quinto), who is an unconventional neurologist at Bronx General Hospital. In the series, he and his staff often diagnose very strange cases. The show is also based on a real doctor named Oliver Sacks. Brilliant Minds specifically drew content from his books, The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and An Anthropologist on Mars, which include several of his case documents.
NBC announced today that it is officially canceling Brilliant Minds as the series has been underperforming, especially in comparison to its fellow shows on the network. The news isn't really all that surprising, as its numbers have been struggling for quite a while. Viewers of the show have been wondering for months whether the show would get a third season, especially after its hiatus. This decision also marks the first cancellation of the 2026–2027 seasons.
Brilliant Minds season 1 first aired from September 2024 through January 2025. Its second season debuted in September 2025 and released 14 episodes before being removed from the network’s schedule in February because of its poor ratings and low viewership. However, despite its cancellation, NBC will still drop the remaining episodes of Brilliant Minds season 2 on May 27, 2026.
The medical drama also had a huge ensemble cast. It starred Teddy Sears (Dr. Josh Nichols), Tamberla Perry (Carol Pierce), Brian Altemus (Charlie Porter), Alex MacNicoll (Dr. Van Markus), Ashleigh LaThrop (Dr. Ericka Kinney), Spence Moore II (Dr. Jacob Nash), Aury Krebs (Dana Dang), Donna Murphy (Dr. Muriel Landon), John Clarence Stewart (Dr. Anthony Thorne), and Al Calderon (Scotty "Nico" Silva) alongside Quinto.
Brilliant Minds was created by Michael Grassi, who also serves as an executive producer. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Lee Toland Krieger, DeMane Davis, Jasmine Russ, Henrik Bastin, Jonathan Cavendish, Andy Serkis, and Shefali Malhoutra are also executive producers for the series.
Brilliant Minds wasn't the only show that was canceled by NBC. The network also decided not to renew the comedy series, Stumble. The series takes place in two fictional towns, Wichita Flats, Texas, and Heådltston, Oklahoma. It follows Courteney Potter (Jenn Lyon), a cheerleading coach. After she was fired for drinking with her team, she got a new job as a typing instructor and cheer coach at Heådltston State Junior College.
