As superhero adaptations go, Batman has had some real high points over the years that really did capture what it means to be the Caped Crusader, fighting the evil underbelly of Gotham City as we go. For most, the Arkham trilogy has been the zenith, with all three games blowing players out of the water with their immense graphics, brilliant voice acting, and super addictive, beefy gameplay.
There will be plenty of hopes that Rocksteady Studios is able to capture a similar magic in their upcoming Wolverine adaptation, while rumors continue to swirl that they have another Batman project in the works. In the meantime, there's another Batman game coming very soon indeed, and it has some Arkham connections that you'll want to be aware of if you are a fan.
The Lego video games have quickly become some of the more beloved regular features in the charts, and LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is the next on that list, with a full release scheduled for May 22. As part of that release, you can pick up the Arkham Trilogy Pack, which includes the version of the Batmobile featured in those games, as well as alternate models for Batman and Catwoman.
Those are joined there by the Batman Beyond Pack, which includes an entirely different edition of the Batmobile, as well as fresh designs for Batman and Robin. That has quickly led to speculation that physical sets could also be on the way around the release of the game, as many of the comments pointed out.
"I hope they release some sets based on the game like they did with LB1 & LB2. I hope they make that Mr Freeze an actual minifigure from the trailer," one comment read.
"It actually might [be made into a real set]. Considering the next year's lineup had "Ultimate Batmobile Collection" stamped on the boxes, the designers being playfully secretive about it during the interviews when they were revealed, and looking how coherent the designs are into making it compact," another added.
"No Origins. Still peak that were getting Arkham content at all, it's just that one's always been one of my faves," a third said.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is set to launch very soon indeed, on May 22, and expectations are astronomically high this time around, after a completely stellar showing in what we have seen of the game so far. The only caveat to the above release date is that Switch 2 players will have to wait a little bit longer, with the developer bringing it to the platform on an as yet unconfirmed date.
