James is a gaming writer from London who has spent thousands of hours exploring titles from every genre. Though he has a particular affinity for multiplayer titles like World of Warcraft, Destiny 2 and League of Legends, he has also put thousands of hours into single-player experiences, from deep RPGs to epic PC strategies. When he's not playing or writing, he can usually be found supporting his beloved Brentford FC.
The Assassin's Creed RPG trilogy was quite a controversial one among fans because it represented such a significant departure from the formula that had made the series so great. That said, with the possible exception of Valhalla, they were very good games, and they're well worth playing if you're a fan of the wider story.
Over on Nexus Mods, you should be able to find the download page for Assassin's Creed Origins Rebirth Reshade, a mod that serves as a simple reshade of the original color palette the game uses, making everything appear considerably more natural and true to life.
It also adds ambient occlusion to proceedings as well as depth of field changes, giving the game a whole new look while remaining very much true to the original vision of the artists who worked on the game. The download page also comes with clear and specific instructions about how to get it all working properly, though you should be aware that you'll need slightly better specs than the usual recommended to get it running smoothly.
As with all releases over on Nexus Mods, it's also entirely free to download, so if you're thinking about giving the game another pass, then adding this to the equation is a solid bet.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Is Up Next
Leaving Origins to one side for a minute, for many, Black Flag still serves as the best Assassin's Creed game of all time, even if plenty still contend that it isn't even really an Assassin's Creed game at all. The adventures of Edward Kenway really showed the potential of ocean combat, and the swashbuckling tale really seemed to resonate with everyone who interacted with it.
Happily, Ubisoft has confirmed that a full remake entitled Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced is on the way, with a reveal event taking place on the official Assassin's Creed YouTube channel on Thursday, April 23, at 6 PM CEST / 12 PM ET, with many expecting a full release for the game later this year.
