It was earlier this week that we were all treated to some interesting information regarding the next mainline Assassin's Creed entry, Assassin's Creed Hexe, after multiple details and even dialogue examples were leaked online. With the news that we could expect to see the return of Ezio, and even take on the role of a descendant of Ezio's sister, Claudia, Hexe is already shaping up to be another hit entry in the beloved Ubisoft franchise.

Assassins Creed Revelations' Ezio looks serious under his hood.

It was back in 2022 that Assassin's Creed Hexe was first announced, with the knowledge that players would be heading to the 16th-century Holy Roman Empire during the peak of European witch trials. Other than that, information remained scarce, and it is only recently that fans were treated to some more potential news on the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed entry. However, with the information not confirmed by Ubisoft, it is still worth taking with a pinch of salt.

However, it seems as though the leaks have not stopped there, as a brand-new screenshot has been released, marking our first one since the Assassin's Creed Hexe announcement back in 2022, complete with the Assassin's Creed symbol molded in sticks.

The screenshot in question was leaked by insider xj0nathan, and so, as always, it is worth remembering that this was not an official release, and so its authenticity cannot be confirmed. Nonetheless, the leaker had some information to share about the screenshot which we will add here.

As you can see, the image shows a standard-looking assassin complete with Hidden Blade, but they are seemingly walking through the same forest which was first shown in the official Assassin's Creed Hexe first look. According to xj0nathan, as well as many other leakers, Ezio will be reappearing in the game, albeit via memory discs or Isu technology as opposed to actually being present. However, it seems as though our protagonist, reportedly called Anika, will be joined by a mentor called Wolfgang.

The mentor will reportedly star in the first half of the game, whilst Ezio will appear much later. Perhaps most interestingly, is that Wolfgang will be a morally grey character, perhaps guiding Anika in the wrong direction, whilst Ezio will be much more of an angel on the shoulder.

At the time of writing, there is no official release date for Assassin's Creed Hexe, but many believe that it will launch in 2027. This makes sense considering that Ubisoft first plans its release of the Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag remake, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced, on 9 July. So, it may be a while until we see Anika operating during the 16th-century Holy Roman Empire, but its recent leak just goes to show that we are in for a wild ride.
