Apple TV has many extraordinary Sci-Fi shows that veer into different directions, and this underrated series is not nearly talked about enough for just how intriguing and bingeworthy it is. Apple TV's best Sci-Fi series include shows like Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Severance, Silo, For All Mankind, Foundation, and more. The streaming service has become the go-to for genre shows over the years.

Apple TV's Sci-Fi shows tackle complex concepts with layered characters, impactful twists, and movie-level CGI. For instance, one could mistake watching Monarch: Legacy of Monsters for a Godzilla or King Kong movie due to the high level of craftsmanship employed on the show's VFX. That said, an underrated series has the same positive aspects that Apple TV's splashier Sci-Fi shows are known for.

Apple TV's Underrated Sci-Fi Series Is Different From The Rest

Dark Matter is an Apple TV Sci-Fi series that definitely deserves more love. In a sea of exciting genre releases, Dark Matter is easily one of the best Sci-Fi shows when talking about the multiverse. The Apple TV series follows Joel Edgerton as Jason Dessen, a physicist who is kidnapped by a mysterious character and taken to a parallel reality.

As Dark Matter season 1 progresses, we delve deeper into the multiverse and start to unravel its secrets, how traveling to other universes works, and what is behind Jason's predicament. The closest other Apple TV Sci-Fi series come to Dark Matter's use of the multiverse is through Constellation and For All Mankind.

Constellation sees Noomi Rapace's Johanna "Jo" Ericsson, an astronaut at the International Space Station, return to Earth to discover that pieces of her life have changed or are not there anymore. The Sci-Fi series would play with the concept of slipping through different realities to explain Jo's situation. That is similar to Dark Matter. In For All Mankind, an alternate-reality timeline where the Soviets won the Space Race is explored.

Why Apple TV's Dark Matter Is Worth Watching

Joel Edgerton Dark Matter

Dark Matter is based on the book of the same name, written by Blake Crouch. One of the biggest positive elements of the show is that not only is Crouch involved with the production, but he is also the creator and the showrunner of the Apple TV Sci-Fi series.

As such, in a landscape where Game of Thrones franchise creator George R. R. Martin is publicly unhappy about HBO's handling of it, Dark Matter is a breath of fresh air. Dark Matter has already been renewed for season 2, which means new viewers will not have to worry about a cliffhanger ending that never gets resolved.

The ending Apple TV+'s mind-bending sci-fi series Dark Matter was anything but conclusive, and that opens the door for even more in season 2.

Dark Matter boasts a positive 82% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes. The series stands slightly lower when it comes to its audience score, but that one is also good, with 80%. All in all, Dark Matter is perfect for a weekend binge and presents a heady multiverse concept that is perfectly explained as the Sci-Fi series moves forward. This is a solid, intriguing, and epic Apple TV series.
