It's a big week for Pokémon. This Friday, February 27, is the franchise's 30th anniversary, and it will feature the annual celebratory Pokémon Presents showcase. FireRed and LeafGreen coming to Switch ahead of time is already a good sign for Pokémon Day reveals, and now another Nintendo broadcast indicates that the Pokémon Presents schedule is being cleared for some major reveals.

Nintendo Directs are usually the broadcasts to look out for—and there have been rumors of another February Direct—but the stream in question this week is actually a show that Nintendo does more infrequently. Nintendo Treehouse Live doesn't tend to get as much fanfare, but it can be great for getting a better sense of how a game plays. The hosts usually play the early stages of upcoming games and discuss some ins-and-outs of their design.

Nintendo Treehouse Live On February 24 Will Feature Pokopia & Super Mario Bros. Wonder

Nintendo Treehouse Live returns tomorrow, February 24, at 5:00 pm Eastern Time (the stream link is already up, embedded above). It will offer roughly 80 minutes of gameplay demonstration, with that time split between Pokémon Pokopia and Super Mario Bros. Wonder's Switch 2 Edition, which includes the Meetup at Bellabel Park expansion.

Both games are coming in March, Pokopia on the fifth, and the new version of Wonder on the 26th. It's a bit of an odd pairing, but they are two of Nintendo's biggest franchises. There hasn't been any further details than the 80-minute runtime, but the most generous estimate for both suggests we'll get roughly 40 minutes of gameplay for each.

Pokopia Won’t Need As Much Screen Time On Pokémon Day

I'm excited to see Pokopia in action on Treehouse Live, but the implication of showing so much gameplay earlier in the week is that it won't be taking up much of Pokémon Presents' runtime on Friday. It goes hand-in-hand with FireRed and LeafGreen coming out ahead of time, suggesting we're in for quite an exciting slate of Pokémon announcements on its anniversary. I fully expect Pokémon Pokopia to be a part of the anniversary stream, but it's now more likely to be a standard trailer.

It wouldn't make sense for Nintendo to show off a ton of gameplay at Treehouse Live tomorrow, then again on Friday. The Pokémon-shaped elephant in the room is a potential Generation 10 reveal. Gen 10 leaks have been numerous, but Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have remained practically silent regarding the new games.

With gameplay for the franchise's next game and legacy re-releases out of the way, there's now plenty of open room in Pokémon Presents. It's a great sign for not just a potential Gen 10 reveal, but for the trading card game, Pokémon TCG Pocket, and more. It's starting to feel like this could be the biggest Pokémon Presents in years. The 10th generation and 30th year are huge milestones for Pokémon, and with Pokopia getting the spotlight at Nintendo Treehouse instead, Friday could have numerous big announcements.
