An-Li Bogan (The American Society of Magical Negroes) is set as a series regular opposite Emily Deschanel in NBC‘s drama pilot from writers Dean Georgaris and John Fox.
The untitled project is inspired by the work of expert profiler and author Dr. Ann Burgess, subject of the 2024 Hulu docuseries Mastermind: To Think Like a Killer. It centers on Professor Georgia Ryan (Deschanel), a trailblazing psychologist who challenges the field of criminology by shifting the investigative focus to the victim rather than just the perpetrator in order to uncover the crucial clues that more traditional methods leave behind. Alongside her team, this pioneering expert consults with the FBI to solve the most baffling and elusive cases.
Bogan will play Natalie Washington who lives with hyperthymesia, a rare condition that allows her to remember every moment of every day of her life with perfect clarity. This extraordinary gift makes her an unparalleled investigative asset: details others forget, she recalls instantly; patterns others miss, she sees immediately.
Georgaris executive produces alongside Davis Entertainment’s John Davis and Fox. Deschanel is a producer. Burgess is a consulting producer, as is Steven Constantine. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio.
Bogan most recently was seen in the feature The American Society of Magical Negroes, which premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. She recently wrapped shooting the thriller feature Echo Lake and the short Half Moon. Bogan is repped by Gersh and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
