How Much Does Conan O'Brien Get Paid as Oscars Host? Breaking Down the Surprising Paycheck

Amy Madigan has certainly bewitched the Oscars voters.

The Weapons actress picked up the 2026 Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for her portrayal of Aunt Gladys, besting fellow nominees One Battle After Another’s Teyana Taylor, Sinners’ Wunmi Mosaku and Sentimental Value costars Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas.

And it was an emotional moment for Amy as she accepted the award at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre March 15 during the Conan O'Brien-hosted ceremony, giving a rare shoutout to husband of 42 years Ed Harris, with whom she shares daughter Lily Harris, 32. (See all the winners here.)

“The most important is my beloved Ed,” Amy said from the stage, “who's been with me forever, and that's a long ass time.”

“None of this would mean anything if he wasn't by my side,” she continued. “So thank you very much. I'm very overwhelmed.”

Amy also had a special message for her fellow nominees, thanking them for supporting her during awards season.

“When I was doing all the Weapons stuff I was kind of traveling on my own,” she explained, “and people from One Battle and people from Sinners and all the films, they just kind of gave me a hug and said, ‘Yeah, come on in and let us know you, and you can know us.’”

Amy’s win comes exactly 40 years after she was nominated for her first Oscar for the 1985 film Twice in a Lifetime—now the record for longest time between first nomination and first win. And as she found after her latest journey through awards season, it was a completely different experience four decades ago.

"It was much smaller,” Amy told ABC earlier this month. “It wasn't all of this. There was no social media. There were no podcasts. There was no this and no that."

But despite the differences, one thing remained the same: the excitement of her industry peers loving her performance.

"It's really overwhelming. I'll be honest with you," Amy said. "It's true. People saying, 'We see you. We really see, acknowledge your work. We really enjoy it,' you know? So that's a great feeling.”

And it felt especially exciting to be at the Oscars for a horror film like Weapons and playing a character as interesting as Aunt Gladys—who in the film is a parasitic witch responsible for the disappearance of 17 children.

"It's kind of great because it's really nice that people understand that the genre of horror is very serious filmmaking,” Amy shared. "People are in love with Aunt Gladys.”
