Amanda Peet says she experienced a 'weird' symptom prior to her breast cancer diagnosis last year.
The 54-year-old actress said she noticed a 'weird' area of skin on her breast that felt unusual, prompting a visit to the doctor.
'It just didn't feel like normal skin, but it wasn't the frozen pea that everybody talks about,' she said while making an appearance on the Today show on Thursday.
'I went and I even got an MRI and then they sent me away,' the Something's Gotta Give Star stated. 'So I thought I had a clean bill of health, but they were actually watching it.'
Six months later, Peet went in for a routine scan and she said that was the moment when her doctor told her they found something concerning on the ultrasound.
The mother-of-three, who is married to Game of Thrones co-creator David Benioff, first shared her breast cancer diagnosis in an essay for The New Yorker published earlier this year.

Early last year, Peet was diagnosed with lobular cancer, the second most common type of breast cancer, six months after she first noticed the 'weird' symptom.
According to the Mayo Clinic, invasive lobular carcinoma is a type of breast cancer that causes a growth of cells in the milk-producing glands, or lobules, and can spread into the surrounding tissue, lymph nodes and other areas of the body.
Compared to the more common ductal type of breast cancer, lobular cancer is less likely to cause a lump in the breast.
She said she knew something was wrong when her physician called her and was unusually silent.
Peet recalled her doctor performing a biopsy, and the actress said she became more concerned when she learned her doctor would be personally walking the sample over to Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles on a Friday night to get the results.
'I'll never forget that moment,' she said about receiving the phone call with the diagnosis while her husband and kids were away.
While reflecting on answering the phone and hearing the news, she said she previously 'had such an old-fashioned notion about breast cancer.'
The days following the diagnosis were riddled with anxiety, as the actress 'got a slow drip of information' about what the 'best treatment would be.'

The Your Friends & Neighbors star underwent a lumpectomy and radiation
'I had no idea it was going to take so long. So if you’re an anxious person, it’s your basic nightmare,' she declared.
After a lumpectomy and radiation, Peet received her first clear scan this past January.
Reflecting on how her cancer was caught at an early stage, she added: 'I think about how lucky I was in so many ways.'
