Chris is a Senior News Writer for Collider. He can be found in an IMAX screen, with his eyes watering and his ears bleeding for his own pleasure. He joined the news team in 2022 and accidentally fell upwards into a senior position despite his best efforts.

For reasons unknown, he enjoys analyzing box office receipts, giant sharks, and has become known as the go-to man for all things BoschMission: Impossible and Christopher Nolan in Collider's news division. Recently, he found himself yeehawing along to the Dutton saga on the Yellowstone Ranch.

He is proficient in sarcasm, wit, Photoshop and working unfeasibly long hours. Amongst his passions sit the likes of the history of the Walt Disney Company, the construction of theme parks, steam trains and binge-watching Gilmore Girls with a coffee that is just hot enough to scald him.

His obsession with the Apple TV+ series Silo is the subject of mockery within the Senior News channel, where his feelings about Taylor Sheridan's work are enough to make his fellow writers roll their eyes.

For a show built on pulverizing fights, clipped one-liners, and Jack "it's just Reacher" Reacher bulldozing his way through bad decisions made by worse people, Reacher has built up an almost unfair amount of goodwill with action fans. That is why the wait for Season 4 has started to feel a little louder than usual. People know it is coming. They just have not known exactly when. Now, Alan Ritchson has finally given the clearest answer yet.

Speaking to Collider while promoting War Machine, Ritchson confirmed that Reacher Season 4 will be released this year, saying, “Well, we finished shooting Season 4 of Reacher. It’s by far the best season we’ve had yet, so it’s coming. It’ll be out this year.” That is still not a specific date, but it does officially lock the next season into a 2026 premiere window.

That is a pretty major update for fans who have been watching release speculation pile up ever since filming wrapped. Prime Video has not yet announced an exact date, but Ritchson’s quote resolves the biggest question: Season 4 is not slipping into next year. It might even mean we get a double dose of Reacher this year as the release date for the spin-off Neagley, which will also feature Ritchson alongside Maria Sten, has yet to be finalized — but it was filmed before Reacher.

What Can We Expect From 'Reacher' Season 4?

Ritchson has already hinted that this season is the most action-heavy yet. In his earlier comments to ScreenRant, he said the show may include roughly 30 fight sequences across its eight episodes, while also admitting he worried about “fight fatigue” if the action did not serve the story. He stressed that the team was not just adding fights for the sake of it.

“We shot... God, I don't even know, man. 30? We've never shot this many fights. There's so many. And it's not just that we're just going for the sake of it. I worry about fight fatigue for audiences. I watch my wife watch Game of Thrones, and I am yawning my way through it, and then the fights start. I'm like, 'Now it's getting good.' The fights start, and she's like, 'Oh, wake me up when the fights are done.' And I'm like, 'What is that?' I don't ever want somebody to disengage because they're just seeing all the fights in the world thrown on screen.”

Reacher Season 4 premieres this year. Thank goodness for that.
