A New Catwoman Era Officially Begins December 2026

Warning! The following contains SPOILERS for Dark Knights of Steel II #4–6.Not unlike how fun it is to see an iconic DC character earn the reimagining treatment in Absolute Batman’s unnerving universe, it’s exciting whenever a classic hero or villain is adapted into Dark Knights of Steel II. For example, Dark Knights of Steel’s Batman is half-Kryptonian and imbued with the same powers as Superman, as well as his weaknesses.

There are still plenty of characters who haven’t yet been added to Dark Knights of Steel’s lore and mythology. Now, this December, the medieval superhero fantasy series will finally debut a long-awaited character who may well have an exceptional role to play.

Catwoman Finally Joins Dark Knights Of Steel This Holiday Season

A batch of covers has been revealed for Dark Knights of Steel II #6, along with its solicitation, unveiling our first look at what the medieval fantasy DC Elseworlds universe’s Catwoman will look like. The stunning main cover, by Dark Knights of Steel’s Yasmine Putri, depicts Catwoman in an agile pose midair, in a sleek blueish-black and pinkish-purple costume, wielding a whip and carrying a satchel with jewels spilling out of it.

This cover also sees her in possession of the crown that we see being placed on Prince Bruce Wayne’s head in Putri’s cover for the previous issue, Dark Knights of Steel II #5, though there’s no guarantee that she actually whisks it from his head or that the crown is Prince Bruce’s to wear at all.

Described as a “mysterious and beautiful thief” who breaks General Amanda Waller out of imprisonment (probably the El palace’s dungeons, where Waller and Dr. Elizabeth Arkham are currently brewing monstrosities), Dark Knights of Steel’s Catwoman will seemingly inherit her classic counterpart’s dubious penchant for committing felonies. The solicitation for Dark Knights of Steel II #6 reads as follows:

OLD ENEMIES FORM NEW ALLIANCES IN THIS THRILLING MID-SERIES CLIMAX! On the hunt for former Commander of the El Kingdom Amanda Waller, Prince Bruce finds himself tangled up with the mysterious and beautiful thief who engineered the jailbreak. Meanwhile, a freshly crowned King Victor Falcone seeks a dangerous new alliance with the vicious tyrant beneath the waves...

Catwoman Adds A Neat Wrinkle To Dark Knights Of Steel II’s Lore

It’s impossible to tell if she will be named Catwoman. In fact, the likelier naming convention being the “Cat” or the “Cat-Princess,” seeing as Batman is referred to as the “Bat-Prince.” Plus, she may go by the name Selina Kyle, but secretly be a Falcone—the daughter of Dark Knights of Steel II’s King Carmine Falcone, specifically.

Indeed, Dark Knights of Steel II debuts Prince Victor Falcone, an original iteration of the Batman villain Victor Zsasz, who is Carmine’s son and the heir to the throne of the Blüdhaven Isles. Thanks to this solicitation, we also know that Prince Victor will soon become King Victor and replace Waller as Dark Knights of Steel II’s main antagonist, at least until Emperor Black Manta appears.

Therefore, this would be a wonderful opportunity for Dark Knights of Steel II to introduce Catwoman by dusting her backstory with a sprinkle of royal blood. And, if King Victor is overthrown or felled by the end of the sequel series, Catwoman could inherit the throne as Queen Selina of the Blüdhaven Isles.

Dark Knights of Steel II #6 is scheduled to be released on December 16, 2026.
