32 Must-Watch Series That Will Be Your Perfect Summer Binges

After a strong spring packed with exclusive previews, Collider has officially started to usher in the summer with our Exclusive Summer Preview Event, with a whole week of teasers and exclusive content on a number of upcoming TV series (and one movie) for the summer ahead. Before next week's movie preview event, these are all of the TV exclusives that Collider debuted this past week, including Alice & Steve, The Vampire Lestat, Every Year After, and many more.

'A Woman of Substance'

Release Date: On BritBox This Summer

Based on the 1979 novel by Barbara Taylor Bradford, A Woman of Substance is a historical drama that premiered on Channel 4 in March. Now, the series will be coming to BritBox, where more viewers will be able to be introduced to it. Ahead of this upcoming release, Collider teamed up with BritBox as a part of our Exclusive Summer Preview Event to share two exclusive images from the series. A Woman of Substance covers six decades in the life of Emma Harte (Brenda Blethyn), an impoverished maid in her youth (with the younger Emma played by Jessica Reynolds), who becomes an extremely successful business mogul. These exclusive images capture two scenes from Emma's life, set very far apart from each other.

'Lucky'

Premiere Date: July 15

The latest in Apple TV's lineup of suspenseful and action-packed drama series is the upcoming Lucky, a crime thriller starring Anya Taylor-Joy as the titular reformed con artist and criminal who has to do one last job in order to finally put that life behind her. As part of Collider's Exclusive Summer Preview Event, Collider partnered up with Apple TV to release an exclusive still from the upcoming miniseries. The exclusive gives a sneak peek into the character of Lucky, and into a day in her action-packed and dangerous life.

'A Tale of Two Cities'

Premiere Date: Later This Year

The newest adaptation of Charles Dickens' iconic 1859 novel, A Tale of Two Cities, is an MGM+ miniseries that will be released later this year. Some of the stars of the upcoming four-part series include Kit Harington as Sydney Carton, Mirren Mack as Lucie Manette, and François Civil as Charles Darnay. Collider teamed up with MGM+ as part of our Exclusive Summer Preview Event to provide two exclusive stills from the upcoming adaptation that show Harington and Mack in character as Carton and Lucie respectively.

'The Legend of Vox Machina' Season 4

Premiere Date: June 3

The fourth season of Prime Video's hit animated fantasy series, The Legend of Vox Machina, will be premiering on the platform next month. The season picks up with a little bit of a time jump, taking place one year after the end of Season 3, and it will show Vox Machina reuniting to work together again after parting ways. For our Exclusive Summer Preview Event, Collider paired up with Prime Video to deliver a first-look image of Percy (Taliesin Jaffe) and Vex (Laura Bailey) dancing together in the upcoming season.

'My Adventures With Superman' Season 3

Premiere Date: June 13

My Adventures With Superman returns to Adult Swim for its third season next month. The season will introduce the iconic character of Conner Kent (Darren Criss), also known as Superboy, to the series, as seen in the exclusive still above. 'Dark Matter' Season 2

Premiere Date: August 28

Just over two years after the twisty and game-changing finale of its first season, Dark Matter will return at the end of this summer to kick off the weekly release of its second season. Season 2 of Dark Matter is set to introduce a number of new shake-ups, picking up just when a sudden obstacle upends the Dessens' new life that they've been building since the end of Season 1. 'Alice & Steve'

Premiere Date: June 8

Hulu's newest romantic comedy series is the upcoming Alice & Steve, a romantic comedy with an unconventional twist. The series follows two best friends, Alice (Nicola Walker) and Steve (Jemaine Clement), whose friendship fractures when he starts dating her daughter, Izzy (Yali Topol Margalith). 'New Wave'

Premiere Date: August 9

This coming summer, MGM+ will be premiering New Wave, a four-part docuseries about New Wave music during the late '70s and the '80s. 'Sugar' Season 2

Premiere Date: June 19

Apple TV's suspenseful detective drama, Sugar, will be returning next month with the premiere of its second season. This week, Collider teamed up with Apple TV for our Exclusive Summer Preview Event to share an exclusive Season 2 image of Colin Farrell as the titular private detective, John Sugar. The season will return just two years after the end of its first season, which saw Sugar working to figure out what happened to Jonathan Siegel's (James Cromwell) missing granddaughter, Olivia (Sydney Chandler).

'Dutton Ranch'

Premiere Date: May 15

Yellowstone fans will be thrilled to learn that Dutton Ranch, the upcoming spin-off about Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), has premiered this week on both Paramount Network and Paramount+. After its two-episode premiere, Dutton Ranch will follow a weekly release schedule. 'Fightland'

Premiere Date: July 31

Premiering this summer on Starz is the platform's newest drama series, Fightland. The series follows former boxing champion Duke Kilroy (Howard Charles), right as he's released from prison. Eight years after his brother's murder and his own arrest, Duke starts his new life with a quest for revenge that takes him down a very dangerous path. 'Sweet Magnolias' Season 5

Premiere Date: June 11

Netflix's coziest dramedy, Sweet Magnolias, returns next month for its fifth season. Unlike the series' previous installments, Season 5 will take place in both Serenity and New York City, as Maddie Townsend (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) works to maintain a balance between her far-away dream job and her life back home. 'Gone'

Premiere Date: Later This Year

Based on Detective Superintendent Julie Mackay's true crime memoir, To Hunt a Killer by McKay and Robert Murphy, is a new crime thriller series called Gone. Gone tells the true story of how Mackay reopened a cold case and solved the murder of Melanie Road. The series premiered on ITV1 and ITVX in March, and now, it will be coming to BritBox later this year. 'Futurama' Season 14

Premiere Date: August 3

Futurama fans have known for some time that the hit animated sci-fi series would be returning later this year for Season 14. 'Dragon Striker'

Premiere Date: June 9

Coming to Disney+ next month is Dragon Striker, an animated fantasy series that takes place at a sports academy for those with magical abilities. The series follows Key (Akshay Kumar), an underestimated farm boy who believes that he is destined to become the next Dragon Striker. For our Exclusive Summer Preview Event, Collider partnered up with Disney+ to share two first-look images of Key and his soccer teammates from the upcoming series.

'Deli Boys' Season 2

Premiere Date: May 28

Hulu's darkly funny crime comedy series, Deli Boys, will return later this month for its second season. For our Exclusive Summer Preview Event, Collider was able to share an exclusive clip from the upcoming season, featuring two new characters. Andrew Rannells stars as Andrew Chadwater, a candidate for Mayor of Philadelphia. In this clip, the mysteriously connected Max Sugar, played by Fred Armisen, tries to convince Chadwater that he can be an asset to his campaign.

'The Walking Dead: Dead City' Season 3

Premiere Date: This Summer

The Walking Dead: Dead City, The Walking Dead's spin-off centered on Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) unlikely allyship, returns for its third season this summer. For our Exclusive Summer Preview Event, Collider teamed up with AMC+ to release an exclusive image from the upcoming season. 'The Westies'

Premiere Date: July 12

This summer will see the premiere of The Westies, MGM+'s upcoming new crime drama series starring J.K. Simmons. The Westies is a fictionalized telling of the story of the Irish American criminal gang, the Westies, and it's set in New York City in the 1980s. At its center are two former childhood friends: Eamon Sweeney (J.K. Simmons), the leader of the Westies, and Glenn Keenan (Titus Welliver), an NYPD police officer. 'Power Book III: Raising Kanan' Season 5

Premiere Date: June 12

Power's prequel series, Power Book II: Raising Kanan, will be returning next month for its fifth and final season. The captivating crime drama is set to have an explosive final season after that game-changing cliffhanger that ended last season. 'Mating Season'

A little over a year after Netflix's Big Mouth came to an end, the team behind the hit series is returning with a new adult animated sitcom called Mating Season. Essentially, Mating Season is for woodland creatures what Big Mouth was for teenagers. The series follows the sex and love lives of forest animals looking for their mates, and it premieres next week. 'Never Change!'

Release Date: June 9

Amongst the new and returning TV series that Collider has previewed this week, there is also the upcoming Hulu comedy movie, Never Change! Almost two decades after they graduated from high school, a former class of North Meadows High School learns that they didn't repeat all of their graduation requirements, due to a technicality. Now, they all have to go back to high school, which stirs up old feelings and conflicts. For our Exclusive Summer Preview Event, Collider released five exclusive stills from Never Change!

'The Vampire Lestat'

Premiere Date: June 7

The third season of Interview With the Vampire, titled The Vampire Lestat after Book 2 of the iconic Anne Rice series, will premiere next month on AMC+. The season puts Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) front and center, as he becomes a rockstar and fights to set the record straight after the release of Daniel Molloy's (Eric Bogosian) book detailing his 2022 interview with Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) and Armand (Assad Zaman). 'Every Year After'

Premiere Date: June 10

The newest of Prime Video's iconic romance lineup is the upcoming Every Year After, based on the first book in the Carley Fortune series. Percy Fraser (Sadie Soverall) returns to her former summer home, a small town called Barry's Bay, for the funeral of her childhood best friend's mother, Sue (Elisha Cuthbert). Her childhood best friend, Sam (Matt Cornett), is also her ex-boyfriend, and through reconnecting in the present day, Percy looks back on all the ways in which their relationship went wrong. 'Cape Fear'

John D. MacDonald's 1957 novel, The Executioners, has been adapted twice now as films both titled Cape Fear in 1962 and 1991 respectively. Now, this story has been adapted into a psychological thriller miniseries called Cape Fear, and it will be premiering on Apple TV next month. 'King of the Hill' Season 15

Hulu's long-running adult animated sitcom, King of the Hill, returns for its fifteenth season this coming summer. Paramount+ twisty and suspenseful crime procedural, Criminal Minds: Evolution, returns later this month for what is the fourth season of this revival, and Season 19 overall of Criminal Minds. This season is set to show the BAU working together to find and take down The Fan, a mysterious serial killer who's been copying the style of the notorious Elias Voit (Zach Gilford). 'Lanterns'

HBO is back with another DC Comics Universe series: Lanterns, which will be premiering on both the channel and on HBO Max this coming summer. The series follows two members of the Green Lanterns who are investigating a murder in Nebraska: the experienced Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler), and his trainee, John Stewart (Aaron Pierre). Executive-produced by Stranger Things' Matt and Ross Duffer, The Boroughs is a science fiction series that takes place in a retirement community in New Mexico called The Boroughs. The series follows a group of residents of The Boroughs whose quiet lives there are threatened by a mysterious supernatural creature. Tatiana Maslany stars in Apple TV's new dark comedy mystery series, Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, which will be released on the platform next week. Little House on the Prairie

Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House on the Prairie was first adapted for television in 1974, and now, it will be returning in the form of a remake to be released on Netflix this summer. The series has already been renewed for a second season ahead of its debut, and its first season will have eight episodes.
