After an impressive 2024, Netflix plans to cultivate even more success in 2025 with the return of some of its most popular shows, starting in January. In a world where streaming has become the supreme way to consume media, Netflix remains on top. The platform laid the groundwork for streaming dominance, with many others (like Hulu, Disney+, Max, Apple TV+, Paramount+, etc.) following in its footsteps in the past decade or so. Streaming has just continued to grow and succeed, which won't stop anytime soon based on Netflix's 2025 lineup of TV shows alone.

Some of Netflix's biggest shows in 2024 were Bridgerton, Outer Banks, 3 Body Problem, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Heartstopper, Baby Reindeer, and Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story (per Netflix by Tudum).

Netflix is the biggest streaming service in the world, and that is unlikely to change anytime in the near future. While Netflix has been criticized for prematurely canceling original shows, the company still produces some of the most popular TV series, resulting in its everlasting influence in the streaming world. In 2025, Netflix's rule will be in full force as some of its biggest shows are returning, starting with The Night Agent in January.

Netflix Will Open 2025 With The Night Agent Season 2 And Cobra Kai's Final Season

The Night Agent Returns In January

All 10 episodes of Netflix's The Night Agent season 2 premiere on Thursday, January 23, 2025. The action thriller's first season dropped almost two years ago, in March 2023, meaning these upcoming episodes have been long anticipated. Shawn Ryan's The Night Agent stars Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland, an FBI agent in charge of the Night Action program's telephone in the basement of the White House. During season 1, Peter's position resulted in him getting mixed up in a complex conspiracy concerning a mole in the U.S. government. Now, he's back for more action in season 2.

The Night Agent Season 2 Is Officially Repeating A Storyline From Season 1 With A Darker Twist

Netflix's action thriller, The Night Agent, will be returning for a second season which has a similar storyline as season 1, but with a darker twist.

Despite only having one season, The Night Agent is one of Netflix's most-watched series. Millions tuned in to its premiere in 2023, leading to the streaming service making one of its easiest decisions regarding a renewal. A week after The Night Agent season 1's release, Netflix ordered a second season. Then, in October 2024 (a few months before season 2's premiere), Netflix renewed The Night Agent for season 3. So, hopefully, the audience won't have to wait as long for season 3 as they did for season 2.

The sixth film in The Karate Kid franchise will reportedly take place three years after the events of Cobra Kai season 6 and feature Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan reprising their roles as Daniel LaRusso and Mr. Han, respectively.

Meanwhile, Cobra Kai is also set to return in early 2025. The final part (part 3) of its last season (season 6) will debut on February 13, 2025, meaning fans don't have to wait long for the martial arts comedy drama's final five episodes. Then, a few months later, Karate Kid: Legends will premiere. The sixth film in The Karate Kid franchise will reportedly take place three years after the events of Cobra Kai season 6 and feature Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan reprising their roles as Daniel LaRusso and Mr. Han, respectively.
