1000-lb Sisters season 6 star Amy Slaton has changed so much over the years, but she's always achieving new milestones. The show gets its title from 37-year-old Amy and her 38-year-old sister, Tammy Slaton, who once weighed a combined 1,000 pounds. When the series made its 2020 premiere, Amy weighed over 400 pounds but she lost a significant amount of weight after receiving bariatric surgery.
Before losing weight, Amy lived a very different kind of life. At the time, she was a newlywed who wanted to lose weight so she could have children. During the show's premiere episode in 2020, Amy weighed 406 pounds. After bariatric surgery, she lost a stunning 125 pounds, dropping to 281 pounds. She went on to have two healthy children, Glenn and Gage Halterman, but continued to lose weight. During a 1000-lb Sisters season 6 family weigh-in, Amy stepped on a scale, and it read 237 pounds. Amy lost 169 pounds when all was said and done.
Amy Tried On High Heels
It Was Her First Time
During an episode of 1000-lb Sisters season 6, Amy took Gage and Glenn to a shoe store. After the boys bought sneakers, Amy tried on high heels in a scene posted to YouTube by TLC. It was the first time she wore heels. She explained that at her former size, keeping herself balanced was a challenge, so she preferred to have her feet planted firmly on the ground. Since losing weight, Amy feels more confident and decides to experiment with her shoe collection.

As the shoe store sales staff were helping Amy try on heels during 1000-lb Sisters season 6, she got very emotional. She cried tears of happiness because she realized how far she'd come. The old Amy was too big for high heels, but losing weight changed everything about Amy's life, and she should be proud. Though Amy tried on some sexy stiletto heels for fun, she ended up wisely choosing a sensible block-heeled ankle boot.
