Spoiler Alert: This list contains spoilers for Bridgerton Season 4, Part 1.Make haste for Mayfair's shining diamond of the season. Season 4 of Bridgerton raises the stakes with a romance that breaks every rule of nobility. The town's hottest bachelor, Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), has never been one to settle down. That is, until he encounters a Lady in Silver at a masquerade ball — someone unlike any of the ladies of the ton.
There's a good reason why she's different: this mysterious woman isn't even supposed to be there in the first place. The Lady in Silver is none other than Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), a lowly servant at the Penwood Estate. Even as society insists their relationship is doomed to fail, these two opposites find comfort in being outsiders together. Without further ado, here are the most romantic scenes in Bridgerton Season 4, ranked.
10 Sophie and Benedict Get Caught in the Rain
Episode 3 "The Field Next to the Other Road"
Image via NetflixThe moment before this scene is anything but romantic. When Philip Cavender (Cavan Clarke) nearly assaults a fellow maid at this countryside cottage, Sophie immediately splashes water on him, which in turn almost gets her attacked. Luckily, Benedict is there to witness the entire ordeal, swooping in immediately to beat up Cavender and save Sophie.
Officially fired by Cavender, Benedict offers to take her back to Mayfair in his carriage. Even when he's badly bruised, he's still cheerful enough to make a chirpy quip towards a silent Sophie. It's not the most romantic moment, but it shows how the dynamic between the two is when they're stuck in sticky situations, with Sophie being the more resourceful one, while Benedict is slightly clueless.
9 Sophie and Benedict Spend Time in the Library
Episode 3 "The Field Next to the Other Road"
Image via NetflixThroughout the entire Bridgerton series, all Benedict has ever wanted was to be taken seriously as an artist. However, his creative endeavors are often overshadowed by his notorious reputation as a rake. There are changes in this library scene, where Sophie walks in on Benedict sketching as he recovers from his injuries.
Sophie looks through his stack of paintings, much to Benedict's sheepish embarrassment. But she doesn't just praise his work — she understands the intention that Benedict tries to convey through his work. Her insight genuinely surprises Benedict and secretly brings him delight. Romance doesn't always require grand gestures. Sometimes, it's simply about being seen.
8 Sophie Tends to Benedict's Injuries
Episode 3 "The Field Next to the Other Road"
Image via NetflixStuck in the countryside storm, Benedict and Sophie seek refuge in the former's cottage. It's the first time Sophie has ever spent a night with a man in the same building. It doesn't help that the cottage's two caretakers are nowhere in sight. Luckily, Benedict doesn't make the ordeal all too awkward. He respects Sophie's boundaries and gives her the space she needs to rest.
However, Sophie abruptly wakes up in the middle of the night when she hears Benedict screaming from his room. Without hesitation, Sophie barges into his room, where she sees a topless Benedict burning up from a fever caused by his infected wounds. Although Sophie blushes at the sight of him, she wastes no second to save him.
7 Sophie Fixes Benedict's Button
Episode 4 "An Offer From a Gentleman"
Image via NetflixSophie is now officially employed as a lady's maid at the Bridgerton house, and it's all thanks to Benedict. However, this also means they will be spending a lot of time together in close proximity. Even though Sophie is mostly assigned to tend to Eloise (Claudia Jessie) and Hyacinth (Florence Hunt), there are instances where she bumps into Benedict.
This scene is one such moment. After exiting Hyacinth's quarters, Sophie runs into Benedict, who is still getting used to speaking to her as a servant. Despite the formalities, Benedict can't help but slip and begin opening up to Sophie. In a flustered moment, he struggles to fix a button, prompting Sophie to help — briefly closing the distance between them before she lets go.
6 Benedict Catches Sophie Admiring the Stars
Episode 4 "An Offer From a Gentleman"
Image via NetflixThis scene feels like a full-circle moment for Benedict. Early in the series, he catches a disguised Sophie admiring the chandelier at the masquerade ball. This time, Benedict finds her gazing up at the stars from one of the rooms' windows. In both moments, Sophie is taking in the beauty before her, and that sense of wonder is what draws Benedict to her.
At the same time, the scene grounds viewers in the bitter reality of their relationship. As much as Benedict cares for Sophie, he refuses to jeopardize her position in the household. To Sophie, working for the Bridgertons is a dream opportunity. When Violet wishes for her to stay permanently, Sophie is determined not to let feelings stand in the way.
5 Violet Confesses Her Feelings to Lord Marcus
Episode 3 "The Field Next to the Other Road"
Image via NetflixA brief break from all the Sophie and Benedict romance, Violet (Ruth Gemmell) and Lord Marcus' (Daniel Francis) relationship should be overlooked. The two had their moments in the previous season, but this time, they finally made their feelings clear. Violet, however, has never truly considered life after widowhood. More often than not, she prioritizes her children's marital status over her own happiness.
In Lord Marcus' quarters, Violet rambles about her feelings and insecurities, worrying that she may not be good enough for him. Having birthed eight children, she's scared that her lack of physical beauty might not entice him. Lord Marcus, though, is drawn to Violet's honesty and finds himself loving her even more because of it.
4 Sophie and Benedict Fly a Kite Together
Episode 3 "The Field Next to the Other Road"
Benedict may be the second-born son, but he certainly doesn't behave like one. Arguably, his younger brother Colin (Luke Newton) often comes across as the more mature brother. It's hardly surprising, then, that Benedict asks Sophie to accompany him to fly his long-lost kite at My Cottage. Even though Benedict is still recording, Sophie finds Benedict's whim more amusing than concerning.
When Benedict finally manages to get the kite airborne, he beams with delight. He then insists Sophie take her turn, handing her the kite and prompting the two of them to run across the field like children. Watching them embrace their playful sides is a joy, momentarily escaping from their societal expectations and duties.
3 Sophie and Benedict’s Kiss by the Lake
Episode 3 "The Field Next to the Other Road"
Image via NetflixNothing quite compares to the sweet, lingering thrill of a first kiss. Sophie's daily walk near My Cottage takes a cheeky turn when she accidentally spots Benedict swimming naked in the lake. Flushed and embarrassed, she hides behind a tree, only for Benedict to immediately recognize her presence, which brings him no small amount of amused satisfaction.
Naturally, Sophie denies spying on him, which only fuels Benedict's teasing. One banter leads to another, until Sophie finally admits she could not help but notice him. A quiet pause settles between them. For the first time, without anyone else watching, they sit with the undeniable truth of their attraction, and there is no clearer way to confirm it than by locking lips.
2 Sophie and Benedict Get Passionate on the Staircase
Episode 4 "An Offer From a Gentleman"
Image via NetflixIgnoring the somewhat frustrating ending, this moment finally feels like Sophie reaching her long-pent-up pinnacle. The scene is heated, spontaneous, and perfectly in tune with both her and Benedict's impulsive nature. There's always something satisfying about watching two romantic leads finally let their inhibitions fall away, with Benedict giving more than he receives.
Physical intimacy aside, Benedict's confession is just as romantic. For so long, he has been chasing what he thinks is a fantasy, and the Lady in Silver fades into a distant memory whenever Sophie is near. He admits that in every room of the house, all he sees is Sophie, and that no amount of distance can stop her from consuming his thoughts.
1 Sophie and Benedict's Terrace Moment
Episode 1 "The Waltz"
Image via NetflixTaking it back to the beginning, Sophie and Benedict's terrace moment is where the sparks first fly. Although they've never spoken to each other before, the chemistry is clear. They bounce off each other's responses, with Benedict intrigued by the disguised Sophie's inability to dance, and Sophie amazed to find herself face to face with a Bridgerton.
The scene shows the art of conversation, making talking feel sexy without ever turning dirty. In that moment, they exist in their own little bubble, able to be vulnerable under the safety of their masks. They walk without giving away too much, just enough for Sophie to protect her identity, yet more than enough to reveal who they truly are beneath their costumes.
