Hoyoverse's action gacha game Zenless Zone Zero has a new character backstory trailer, and it's a stunning one. The game has been releasing new information and character updates as part of the New Eridu update. With each new character that comes out, players get to learn more about the game's world, and it's not always sunshine and rainbows.

A new character demo shared via the Zenless Zone Zero YouTube channel that takes a disturbing turn. The video shares new information about the upcoming Zenless Zone Zero character Jane Doe, and shows that she's not a character anyone should mess with. Before anything is shown on screen, the video states that headphones are strongly recommended, a warning that the video's comments note is likely meant to protect viewers from awkward situations.

Fans' introduction to Jane Doe comes from the point of view of someone tied to a chair. The video then goes on to show Jane's expert interrogation techniques, as well as glimpses of how the two ended up in the situation. The video shows Jane to be both sensual and disturbingly violent, giving viewers an idea of what to expect when the character arrives in the game.

Jane Doe is an S-Rank member of the Criminal Investigation Special Response Team. Jane is described as being a criminal behavior specialist, though it's clear from the new video that the real meaning of this is that she knows exactly how to break someone. She seems to be good at her job, as the YouTube video's comment section is full of people playing along, willing to confess their worst sins to Jane.

Jane Doe is voiced by Kelsey Jaffer, who also does the voice acting for Yaoyao from Genshin Impact and AR-1368 from Honkai: Star Rail. All three characters are incredibly different, and Jaffer shows her stunning acting range. Comments on the promo video praise Jane's voice actor for capturing the essence of the character perfectly in her lines.

Zenless Zone Zero is no stranger to violence, and Jane isn't the only character to have a much darker side than expected. ZZZ's Qingyi was recently revealed to have a particularly tragic past, and other characters don't shy away from complex histories. Jane arrives in Zenless Zone Zero on September 4. She'll be joined by another New Eridu character, Seth Lowell, a Thiren man from the same faction.
