The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will go down in history as one of the most popular games in the series. Released in 2006, it was monumental not just because it was one of the very first Wii games, but also because it was one of the final GameCube titles before the platform's demise.
Because of that dual release, it has a very special place in a lot of fans' hearts, and it's been revived in various ways through games like Hyrule Warriors, and countless fan projects throughout the two decades it's been around. Even Midna alone has risen to become one of the more popular characters from the series.
Over on Reddit, fans are celebrating a massive return of Twilight Princess, which is right on time for the series '40th anniversary. Zelda has been around for a very long time, and Twilight Princess remains one of the most beloved entries to date.
Thanks to a new confirmation from the Zelda community, we now know there will be a second Twilight Princess PC port. If you aren't aware of the Twilight Princess community-run PC ports yet, here's a quick breakdown. Right now, there's a "Dusk" project and a "Courage Reborn" project. They're not fully out yet, but the idea is to eventually release with 120 FPS support, gyro aiming, enhanced visuals and aspect ratios, and support for PC, Mac, Android, and iOS.
So far, fans are loving it, with one reminiscing about all the Zelda adventures they've had lately for the 40th: "I just did OoT PC, and I just started Majora’s Mask PC. Was kinda hoping to be able to play Twilight Princess like this afterwards but I don’t think it’s going to be ready by then lol. Hopefully not too far off, at least. Also, I hope when it does come out, it features tunic color changes like OoT and MM. I want my red tunic in TP!"
NintendoWhile some people wonder why we need two Twilight Princess PC ports in the fandom, it really helpsdiversify. With multiple groups working on ostensibly the same project, there's more room for innovation and for quality-of-life features/fixes to arrive more quickly.
One user also brings up a good point: "There needs to be a decomp first. The port teams aren’t the same as the decomp teams so you can’t have one without the other. Plus there are plenty of other decomps in the works. They just haven’t gotten to the 100% mark yet."
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, like all the other mainline 3D entries before it, will never die. They're among the most popular games in the Zelda series, and fans will flock to them until the end of time.
