James is a gaming writer from London who has spent thousands of hours exploring titles from every genre. Though he has a particular affinity for multiplayer titles like World of Warcraft, Destiny 2 and League of Legends, he has also put thousands of hours into single-player experiences, from deep RPGs to epic PC strategies. When he's not playing or writing, he can usually be found supporting his beloved Brentford FC.

Both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom were spectacular entries in The Legend of Zelda series, revolutionizing the formula and thrusting the franchise forward significantly.

Despite all of that time traversing the world, it might not have occurred to most that it can be explored from a whole new perspective, and oh boy, does it look incredible.

Zelda: TOTK In First Person Is Beautiful

Over on YouTube, you can find the Digital Dreams channel, which has become known for pushing the technological and visual limits of games to turn them into the best possible version of themselves, aesthetically speaking.

Up next, they have turned their attention to Tears of the Kingdom, which they've managed to get running on PC via some technical emulation wizardry. Not only that, the whole thing is running in 8K resolution with a retexture pack that improves all the surface visuals. The biggest change, however, is that it's played entirely in first-person, and that new perspective looks spectacular.

The lighting looks incredible and the detail is so far beyond anything that's possible to achieve on the Switch, that it's difficult to see how you would be able to go back without being disappointed.

The comments below were predictably complimentary, with most wanting to get in on the action. "Do you have any breakdown videos on the reshade setup. This looks great!" one comment read.

"Nintendo; make it happen! This makes it feel like a "New" Game!" another added.

What's Next For The Zelda Series?

Once we've had all of our available fun with both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, talk will inevitably turn to what exactly comes next for the series.

The facts are that we know very little about what Nintendo's plans are for the next release, other than that there will definitely be one. If we were forced to speculate, it's probably a safe bet that they will stick with a similar gameplay setup for the time being (seeing as it remains very popular and relatively fresh), with the developer likely pivoting the map and location to keep things fresh.

Other than that, we'll just have to sit tight and wait to hear more about The Legend of Zelda from the horse's mouth.
