With rumors that a The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is set to be announced later this year, alongside news of the next 2D Zelda game, it is an exciting time for fans of the beloved Nintendo franchise, especially as it celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
As with any franchise that has kept us entertained for decades, we all have our favorites and 2006's The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is a title that keeps cropping up, making it no surprise that fans are eager for a modern-day remake. Whilst Nintendo may be holding out on the goods, its fans are most definitely not, as a Twilight Princess PC port has finally been released.
Created as the result of a collaboration between members from the Twilight Princess Decompilation team, the speedrunning community, and the Aurora team, the Twilight Princess PC port, titled Dusklight (previously named Dusk) is finally here, alongside a brand-new trailer showcasing everything that you can expect from the momentous project. There is no doubt that this PC port is a labor of love, and whilst it may not be an official remake or PC port, it is definitely the next best thing.
In another video shared to YouTube just last week, we can see a full list of all the features we can expect from Dusklight, including higher resolutions and uncapped framerates, the ability to adapt bloom presets and shadow resolutions, the ability to enable cheats, and even the chance to mod to your heart's content. Players can also expect some features from the Nintendo Wii and Wii U HD versions of Twilight Princess, including a Mirror Mode, gyro aiming, and even the chance to try out the Wii U's free cam mode.
However, it is Link's new-and-improved look that has got fans talking the most. Thanks to a video shared to the YouTube channel of one of Dusklight's developers, we can see some outtakes from the game as well as a peak at what our pointy-hat hero looks like in this new iteration of Twilight Princess.
"The Man, the Myth, the Legend.. Our boy is back," one comment read. "He deserves a comeback and a chance to have another grand adventure." Another agreed, adding, "The models look phenomenal! The inclusion of Navi is also incredible. I'm very much looking forward to this." With fans claiming that this is "by far the best hero of time model I've ever seen", it seems as though Dusklight may just be smashing records when it comes to unofficial Zelda PC ports, and there is no denying that this is well deserved.
So, if you want to get stuck into a brand-new PC port for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, make sure to try out Dusklight and show its dedicated development team some love.
