The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild revolutionises a franchise that was already a firm favorite in the hearts of players who grew up exploring the charms of Hyrule. The release of the sequel, Tears of the Kingdom, then built on that success brilliantly, and both games remain firm favorites with Nintendo Switch players today.

That said, it's deeply impressive just how long Nintendo have continued to work to improve the overall experience and accessibility of Breath of the Wild, despite the fact that many would have already had their fill.

That work continues to this day, and the game has just received yet another update that adds a whole new supported language to proceedings, as well as some smaller changes that improve the experience all round.

The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 1.9.0 Is Available Now

As first reported by Nintendo Everything, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has just received a 1.9.0 update that adds Thai as a supported language to the game for the first time. The full list of changes supplied by Nintendo is as follows:

General

  • Added Thai as a supported language. If you set the language to “Thai/English” in the Nintendo Switch 2 system, the text will become Thai.
  • The audio language does not support Thai, so if you select “Match System Settings” from the “Options” in the game, it will be in English.
  • Several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience.

It's important to note that Thai is only available if you're playing the game on the Nintendo Switch 2, though the gameplay experience improvements have been rolled out on both generations of console.

Zelda's 40th Anniversary Is Days Away

It's an exciting time to be a fan of Zelda more generally, with the 40th Anniversary celebrations just days away. The first Zelda game was released on the NES on February 21, 1986, with the franchise going on to pass a staggering 156 million copies in sales since then.

Nintendo has remained true to form and not shared much in the way of how they might celebrate the landmark occasion, but it's safe to say that they will try to capitalize on it in some way. Many are predicting potential remasters and remakes, particularly given the successes other companies have found with updated versions of games from the 80s and 90s, though there's no evidence of that just yet.

In the meantime, now seems like as good a time as any to jump back into Breath of the Wild for the 1000th time.
