Zayn Malik Doesn't Think He Was “Ever in Love” With Ex Gigi Hadid

Zayn Malik will spoil his daughter from dusk till dawn—no matter the cost. 

Indeed, the “Pillow Talk” singer shared how his ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid reacted when he gave their child Khai, 5, a pricey gift for losing her first tooth. 

“I think I gave her a bit too much money from the Tooth Fairy,” Zayn, 33, said during the Feb. 11 episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast. When host Alex Cooper asked how much he left under Khai’s pillow, he replied, “$500.”

He lightheartedly added, “It’s her first tooth! Her mom gave me s--t for it, but at the end of the day, I work my ass off and I should be able to give my kid what I want to give her.”

To further celebrate this milestone, the One Direction alum confirmed he’s “going to frame” the tooth. As for the gift he’ll give Khai for her second tooth? 

“She gets $5. The Tooth Fairy’s gone broke now, so I’m not giving you anything else,” Zayn joked. “But she’s my first kid. People in general look at it a certain type of way. But [growing up], I was lucky if I got anything for my teeth. I’ve worked really hard for everything that I’ve earned, so I don’t feel like I should have to answer to those things.” 

“Just to have this on the record, I will always love G because she is the reason my child is on this Earth,” he clarified. “I have the utmost respect for her. I will always love her, but I don’t know if I was in love with her. Otherwise, I would have been a better version of myself.”

This epiphany led him to realize he didn’t fully understand his feelings in most of his past relationships, including his engagement to Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards. But now that he’s been single and redefining what intimacy means to him, he noted his “understanding of love is always developing.”  

“At that moment in time, I might have thought it was love, but as I got older I realized maybe it wasn’t. Maybe it was lust,” Zayn expressed. “I tended to get in trouble in relationships, ‘cause I was young, did certain things and spoke to other females when I shouldn’t have been. You live and learn from it, but this way, there’s no guilt.”
