Kelly Reilly goes to war for (and with) her family in every episode of Yellowstone, but Netflix users are now discovering her in a different kind of battle in the underseen (and very twisty) thriller 10x10. The movie, the only feature film credit of director and co-writer Suzi Ewing, quietly came out in 2018 and has occasionally enjoyed unexpected streaming success since then — possibly because it stars someone from Yellowstone and you, most likely, have not heard of it. That’s a good combination for “hey, let’s watch this.”

What Is ‘10x10’ About?

10x10 is a tough movie to talk about without spoiling a lot of it, but the basic premise goes like this: A woman named Cathy (Reilly) gets kidnapped by a man named Robert (Evans), who traps her in a small, soundproof room and demands to know her name. As the plot unfolds, the audience finds out that he knows more about her than he’s letting on and that she may have some idea about why she was kidnapped.

Of course, as repeatedly noted already, this thing is full of twists. With such a straightforward setup, it should be obvious that 10x10 goes to some places. It’s the kind of movie that you might feel compelled to try and predict as it goes, but it’s also the kind of movie that might make that kind of guesswork difficult to pull off. Really, all you need to know is that Luke Evans trapped Kelly Reilly in a small room — something like 10 feet by 10 feet, hence the title — and it takes some time to figure out who they are and why the bad guy did that bad thing.

Why Does Robert Want To Know Cathy’s Name in ‘10x10’?

If you really want to know, it is eventually revealed in 10x10 that “Cathy” is not Cathy’s real name. That was actually the name of her sister, who killed herself due to the pressures of living in the strict religious society they grew up in. Her real name is Natalie, but she adopted her sister’s identity after her death.

Robert suspected that “Cathy” was involved in the mysterious death of his wife. He kidnapped her and locked her in his specifically sized room to try and force her to admit the truth. But does she admit the truth, and what is the truth anyway? Just go watch the movie. It’s a hit on Netflix, hitting the top six on the streaming charts according to FlixPatrol.
