Xbox Game Pass has so many games that it can be hard to know exactly what to play next. If you're like me, you try to find a balance between your backlog and whatever the latest, hottest release is. But that naturally means some games get overlooked, which is a shame. Right now, one of the best trilogies of all time is on Game Pass, and you should definitely check it out.

I'm talking, of course, about the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. Although the games they're based on came out decades ago, this remake combines all three entries into one package, and each stands great on its own. Still, there's something fun about going through all of them. You can see how the series evolved over time and get more attached to some of the repeating characters.

Spyro Is One Of Gaming's Most Underrated Trilogies

Spyro stands by a column in Spyro Reignited Trilogy

Reviews for Spyro Reignited Trilogy were positive at launch, but the games have only gotten better in the years since, thanks to updates and some nice accessibility features being added. When the trilogy first came out, I was obsessed from the very beginning. I'd been a fan of the original PlayStation games, and playing an updated version did not disappoint.

I originally played Spyro Reignited Trilogy on PS4 back in 2019, and I ended up playing until I got every trophy and Platinum for each entry. Not because I was an avid trophy hunter, but simply because of how much fun I was having. I wanted to complete everything each game had to offer; I just wanted more time with this gem of a trilogy.

And you know what? It was fantastic. In the years since, I've replayed the games with my kids who are now old enough to enjoy Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and we still randomly boot up the game and replay levels we liked or start a new save. Until we get Spyro 4 (something I'm still hoping for), this is an excellent way to experience those classic games in a new light.

All Three Games Are Free Via Xbox Game Pass

If you've got Xbox Game Pass, then you can also play them at no additional cost. Since all three games are in the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, you can play all three for free. That's a pretty sweet deal, and it honestly deserves more attention. No offense to Crash Bandicoot, but the Spyro remakes are the crown jewel of platformer remakes from the PS1 era.

I'm still hoping we get Spyro 4 and can see the series revamped, similar to what happened with Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, but things have been fairly quiet on that front lately. So, in the meantime, give Spyro Reignited Trilogy a shot. And since it's on Xbox Game Pass, you can try it without spending any extra cash.
