After announcing a Wonder Woman video game in 2021, Monolith Productions has been radio silent but it seems like more information will finally be shared soon. Aside from its existence, next to nothing is known about Wonder Woman: Monolith has confirmed that it will make use of the Nemesis System which found critical acclaim in both Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War. Fans are eager to see how the Nemesis System has evolved for current-gen technology, especially when it's attached to a popular character like Wonder Woman.

Posting to Reddit, user DrAwesomeX noted that Monolith Productions has recently updated its website to feature Wonder Woman prominently on the home page, suggesting the developer is trying to drum up hype for an upcoming announcement.

Given that it's been three years since the project was announced, the fact that it's only now taking center stage on the website is enough to raise some eyebrows. Having said that, this is hardly conclusive evidence that more information is imminent so fans should take it all with a decent pinch of salt.

Where Is The Wonder Woman Game?

It's Been Taking Its Time

Unveiled with a teaser trailer during The Game Awards 2021, fans have waited patiently for any kind of update on Wonder Woman. Given the timing of Monolith's website update, many believe it will make a return for The Game Awards 2024 considering it's one of the industry's biggest events and it would be a full-circle moment for development. Whether that happens remains to be seen, but if it is slated to make an appearance at The Game Awards, it's possible that a gameplay trailer could finally see the light of day.

As for why the game has been taking so long, Monolith Productions may have announced its existence while it was still in pre-production, meaning the project still needed plenty of work. Expanding on a feature as dense and complicated as the Nemesis System could also have been extremely time-consuming, especially since development probably began in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. There are also unconfirmed reports that Warner Bros. recent flops (Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League) could have resulted in a priority shift.

I love Middle-earth: Shadow of War so I'm eagerly waiting for any kind of update on Wonder Woman. The Nemesis System is a marvelous piece of tech that provides fantastic emergent storytelling, so combining that feature with a character as iconic as Wonder Woman sounds beyond exciting. We'll just have to hope that there is something shown off during The Game Awards 2024.
