Will Ferrell’s Netflix Golf Comedy Series Gets Title, Release Window & Teaser

2 weeks ago 13

Will Ferrell‘s upcoming golf comedy series at Netflix is no longer untitled. The streamer announced Wednesday that the Untitled Will Ferrell Golf Series has been named The Hawk, fittingly so, in a nod to Ferrell’s character, Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, a fictional golf legend. Netflix also released a first-look teaser which you can see above and a couple more below.

In The Hawk Lonnie Hawkins, (Ferrell) 2004’s number one golfer, struggles on the back nine of his career to recapture his magic. His body says retire, but his heart says he’s not done yet. His ex-wife and his son Lance, golf’s new golden boy, know he’s through. But with one more major to win to complete golf’s Grand Slam, Lonnie refuses to believe he’s anything other than one stroke away from the greatest comeback in golf history.

Molly Shannon also stars as Lonnie’s foul-mouthed ex-wife Stacy, along with Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster, Luke Wilson, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver and David Hornsby.

Ferrell was sidelined for a bit in November, when he suffered a minor injury off-set. While not serious, it did keep him from filming a few scenes, forcing producers to re-arrange the schedule as he recovered, according to TMZ.

Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum and Alix Taylor are executive producers for Gloria Sanchez Productions. Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman and Nena Rodrigue are executive producers for T-Street. Chris Henchy, Harper Steele, David Gordon Green and Andrew Guest will serve as executive producers.
