Invincible season 4 continues Prime Video's acclaimed superhero series, and with the Viltrumite War coming fully into focus, Mark Grayson's life will be more stressful than ever. After Mark's father, Omni-Man, was outed as a Viltrumite agent sent to Earth as a precursor to invasion, Mark quickly discovered his planet wasn't the only one struggling against the Viltrum Empire.
Unfortunately for Mark, Omni-Man's bosses remain determined to get Earth conquered one way or another, and are now expecting Mark himself to inherit the job. His refusal has led to painful encounters with Viltrumites Anissa and Conquest, but when Invincible season 4 begins, Mark is spotted with robotic arms and one robotic leg.
Mark's Robotic Limbs Are A Result Of His Fight Against Conquest

Fear not, Mark hasn't lost three of his four limbs in Invincible season 4. Instead, the robotic attachments are designed to help Mark recover following his fight against Conquest at the end of Invincible season 3. Mark's body was so badly damaged by the encounter, he temporarily requires these mechanical braces to keep operating.
Given the similarity between Mark's braces and the Robot battle suit Rudy uses, we can assume Rudy himself will be responsible for designing them on Mark's behalf.
Watching Invincible vs. Conquest back, we can clearly see each limb injury Mark sustained. His left leg suffered a brutal chop that cracked it like a breadstick. Mark punched through Conquest's metal arm, but at the cost of smashing his own into pieces. Then, finally, Conquest bent Mark's left hand back upon itself after catching the hero's faltering punch during the battle's final stages.
Mark's Robot Limbs Reveal A Lot About His Situation In Invincible Season 4
Mark has taken damage in Invincible before - a lot of damage, in fact. Typically, he only needs a couple of days in hospital before his half-Viltrumite body is ready to leap back into action. Mark's robotic braces not only highlight the immense strength of Conquest as Invincible's most potent villain thus far, they also serve as a worrying omen for the upcoming Viltrumite War, where Mark will face similar foes.
Mark's braces also signal just how desperate the situation is when season 4 kicks off. Mark has previously been given the opportunity to recover from major battles before leaping into the next fight. Either Earth is in such danger that Mark can't afford a stint on the sidelines, or Mark is so desperate to get out onto the streets and start killing some villains, he doesn't want to wait until his body has properly healed.
Both explanations likely hold a degree of truth in Invincible season 4.
