Picture Tree Intl. has closed a raft of early sales on Swiss crowd-pleaser “Hello Betty” as the Berlin-based company prepares to screen the film to buyers at the European Film Market.

Directed by Pierre Monnard, “Hello Betty” tells the true story behind Swiss culinary icon Betty Bossi and the woman who created her. The film is on release in Switzerland via Ascot Elite and has generated around 150,000 theatrical admissions to date, and made its international premiere at the Palm Springs Film Festival last month.

PTI has licensed the film to Alpenrepublik for Germany and Austria (with a theatrical release planned for the second half of this year), Panda Film for Austria, Palace Pictures for Australia and New Zealand, and RTV Slovenia for Slovenia. In addition, multiple in-flight entertainment deals have been concluded covering airlines in Germany, Jordan, the Netherlands, Oman, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates.

To support its international rollout, the film is available in multiple language versions, including French and Italian dubbed versions, with further localization options in preparation. Negotiations are ongoing for several additional territories.

The film is produced by C-Films and backed by major Swiss partners and funds.

At the EFM, PTI will also host market premiere screenings of the real-time Greek thriller “Last Call” and U.S. drama “Rosemead,” headlined by Lucy Liu.
