Although Leonardo DiCaprio is up for an award at SAG’s Actor Awards 2026 for his starring role in One Battle After Another, a conflict is keeping him from attending the Los Angeles event.

Why Leonardo DiCaprio Is Missing Actor Awards 2026
As a working actor, Leonardo DiCaprio takes one film after another.
That’s why while the One Battle After Another star is up for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role at SAG’s Actor Awards March 1, his filming schedule is keeping him from attending the Los Angeles event.
Indeed, Leo is currently on set for Martin Scorsese’s upcoming drama titled What Happens at Night alongside Jennifer Lawrence in Europe, so he is unable to make it for the evening honoring actors, multiple outlets have reported.
Nevertheless, Leo has still been honored by being among a stacked category of fellow actors, including Timothée Chalamet in Marty Supreme, Ethan Hawke in Blue Moon, Michael B. Jordan in Sinners and Jesse Plemons in Bugonia. (For every Actor Awards 2026 winner so far, see here.)
Leo’s latest absence comes after he nearly missed the Critics Choice Awards in January, due to an air traffic control issue delaying his flight from St. Barts to California. And while he eventually did make it to the event, his tardiness didn’t go unnoticed.
“Leo almost didn't make it tonight because he was trapped on a boat in St. Barts," host Nikki Glaser joked to the audience after Leo’s late arrival. "It was just like the Titanic, but worse—because Jeff Bezos was there.”
But while the 51-year-old is being forced to miss the latest moment honoring his work on the Paul Thomas Anderson film, he has emphasized how important the role was for him. For Leo, working with Paul was 30 years in the making after having to turn down a starring role in Boogie Nights in 1997 due to scheduling conflicts with Titanic.
“The dilemma for me at that point, was, of course, I would’ve loved to have done both movies,” Leo explained to Deadline in December 2025, “but it just couldn’t happen at that moment.”

On top of the critically acclaimed movie being a major moment in Leo’s career, he has also emphasized the great work of his costars including Benicio Del Toro, Chase Infiniti, Sean Penn and Teyana Taylor—all of whom are also up for awards at the Actor Awards ceremony, which will air live on Netflix.
Trust, Leo has emphasized how great it was to work with the entire cast—but he shed particular light on the dynamic with Teyana on set.
“She’s got the best sense of humor,” Leonardo told E! News at the premiere of the film in September. “I knew when she was brought into this movie, I was like, ‘This girl is gonna bring the heat.’ And she did. She’s an amazing hang. She’s awesome.”
