Ivanka Trump Reveals the Real Reason She Won’t Return for Donald Trump’s Second Presidency
Ivanka Trumpis leaving the world of politics behind.
Ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony on Jan. 20, the President-Elect’s oldest daughter revealed that she will not be returning to the White House to serve during her father’s second presidency.
“I know the cost,” Ivanka—whose mom is Trump’s late ex Ivana Trump—told hosts Lauryn Bosstick and Michael Bosstick on a Jan. 13 episode of their Skinny Confidential podcast Him & Her Show, “and it’s a price that I’m not willing to make my kids bear.”
After all, the 43-year-old and husband Jared Kushner—who share daughter Arabella Kushner, 13, and sons Joseph Kushner, 10, and Theodore Kushner, 8—took on senior advisor roles during her dad’s first presidency from 2017 to 2021. (For their part, her brothers Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump as well as sister Tiffany Trump, whose mom is Marla Maples, supported their dad on the campaign trails but didn’t formally work for the administration.)
So, while she was there for most of the critical moments in her children’s lives, Ivanka was forced to miss out on countless precious moments.
“Every time I had to miss something,” she explained, “I’m like, ‘I will never let this happen again the minute I leave the White House.’”
And though her family was the biggest factor in the decision, Ivanka also admitted that she isn’t too fond of politics as a whole.
“There is a darkness to that world that I don’t really want to welcome into mine,” she said. “It’s a very dark, negative business.”

As for where Trump’s wife Melania Trumpsees herself living when she’s First Lady once again? She has shared that she plans to, “be in the White House,” as soon as her husband is sworn into office.
But the 54-year-old also foresees returning to New York City from time to time with their son Barron Trump, who is attending his freshman year at New York University’s Stern School of Business.
"When I need to be in New York, I will be in New York," Melania—who also has homes in New York City's Trump Tower and Florida's Mar-a-Lago Club—told Fox & Friends in a recent interview. "When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach."
And while her "first priority is to be a mom, to be a First Lady, to be a wife," Melania stated that "once you're in on January 20, you serve the country."
