Actor Awards 2026: Why Dove Cameron Wants to Keep Damiano David Engagement Private
Don't try beggin' Dove Cameron for more details on her upcoming nuptials.
Nearly two months after the Descendants actress confirmed her engagement to Damiano David following two years of dating, she shared why she wants to keep the spotlight off their milestone going forward.
"I'm trying to talk about it less if I'm honest," Dove exclusively told Justin Sylvester on Live From E! at the 2026 Actor Awards at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles March 1. "I started talking about it so much because we were so excited, and now I'm like, 'Maybe, I want to keep some of this for myself.'"
But the 30-year-old did share a small update on life at the 32nd annual ceremony since the Måneskin band member popped the question. As she explained on the red carpet, "It's been beautiful. It's surreal." (See more stars here.)
Although Dove is ready to keep more details on her engagement close to her chest, she has previously shared insight into their pitch-perfect romance.
"We're really just enjoying being a normal couple. We're quite genuinely private," she shared on E! News' The Rundown last March. "We like to stay home more than anything else. We're watching Lost. 6 p.m., the jammies are on."
For the 56 Days actress, Damiano, 27, completely transformed her idea of love and relationships.
"I met my current partner, who came and just showed me all the possibilities for all of the people I could be, the size I could be, and still also be celebrated for that," she recalled to Billboard in February. "It was really enlightening to me in retrospect to look back at some of my previous dating experiences and be like, 'Wow! OK, this can be done differently, and it was circumstantial.'"

From the personal to the professional, their relationship was a guiding light in Dove's life.
"It was just like, 'This is exactly the path, and this makes sense. This person is going to be very important in my life in some way,'" she added. "And I started to find a new sort of inspiration and step into myself in a way that I had never really done before."
