Sony’s powerful $699.99 PlayStation 5 Pro is now available at a wide variety of retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop, and Target.
Polygon recently published its in-depth review of the PS5 Pro, with analysis of its improved graphical features. I recommend you read it if you’re on the fence. But, in short, it delivers some obvious upgrades to games, with more realistic ray tracing and faster frame rates. However, it’s easier to spot the enhancements in some games than others.
The PS5 Pro isn’t the only new hardware that Sony has prepped for the holiday shopping season. Its PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection of products (including a PS5 Slim Digital Edition, PlayStation Portal, DualSense, and the pricier DualSense Edge) are also available to pre-order — each clad in the color scheme reminiscent of the original PlayStation. Good luck resisting their charm!
Lastly, it’s worth repeating that the PS5 Pro doesn’t include a disc drive. That’s an optional $79.99 purchase — one that you may want to make if you have a collection of PS5/PS4 game discs or loads of Blu-ray movies.
